A first-class traditional ruler, Ohinoyi of Girinya kingdom in the Kogi local government area of Kogi state, Alhaji Mohammed Mohmoh Ganaguda, has called on the state government under the leadership of Alhaji Yahaya Bello, to construct a modern market in Girinya kingdom.

Alhaji Ganaguda, made the call when he received traditional title holders, community leaders, tribal chiefs as well as village chiefs at his palace on Sunday.

He said Girinya community is the oldest local market in Kogi state, which he said produces rice, fish, and Cassava, saying consumers from nine states always come with trucks to buy farm produce at the market.

“Girinya has the oldest and busy market where traders especially consumers from across nine states of the federation come every four days to buy rice and crops in large quantities,” he said.

The traditional ruler, however, said the existing Girinya market is decongested due to the high population of traders and buyers, saying some houses have turned into shops where traders display their wares.
