Kogi NSSAN Executive Holds Inaugural Meeting, Maps Out Strategies for the Progress of the Association

As part of efforts to ensure the growth and progress of Sesame Seed farming in Kogi State, the newly inaugurated Executive of the State Chapter of the National Sesame Seed Association of Nigeria (NSSAN), has held her inaugural meeting.

Chairman of the Kogi State Chapter of NSSAN, Alhaji Damisa Suleiman, while addressing other Executives expressed joy over the success of their inauguration, while appreciating the National body for their support.

Alhaji Suleiman said the task ahead of the Association in the State was enormous, charging them to be focused and remain committed to making Kogi a force to be reckoned with both Nationwide and Internationally in terms of sesame seed production.

He explained that the commodity is of significant value in the business world, stressing that farmers who are into sesame seed production are on a pathway to greatness with focus and determination.

The Kogi State NSSAN Chairman advised the Executives to use their contacts to create opportunity for the Association, pointing out that the progress of an Association requires the contributions of all.

“This meeting is for us to familiarize and to also come up with actionable blue prints that will help us get our jobs done as sesame farmers in Kogi State

“Some of us has access to traditional rulers in our villages, we need to take this gospel of sesame seed to all nooks and crannies of the 21 Local Government Areas of Kogi State, everyone should know the advantage and the need for them to venture into sesame seed farming

“We are here to help ourselves, the society, the State and of course the Nation at large so we must take this responsibility very serious because it is an opportunity for us all to write our names in gold in the Sesame Seed world, we can make a difference he said.

Alhaji Damisa Suleiman also commended the National body for the good rapport existing between the Kogi State Chapter of the Association, promising that they will continue to make the NSSAN National proud.

In an interview with the Vice Chairman of the Association in the State, Prince Maliki Omakwaja, who is from the Eastern flank of Kogi State, described the inaugural meeting as a welcomed development, saying it will help the Association know what to do at certain period.

Prince Omakwaja said Kogi State was blessed with fertile lands suitable for the farming of Sesame Seed, explaining that the State Chapter of the Association will leave no stone unturned at ensuring her progress.

Similarly, Mr. Isaac Sekpe from the Western Senatorial District of Kogi State who is also the Secretary of the Kogi State Chapter of NSSAN, noted that the co-operation of members was important at achieving greater success in the State, adding that the Association under the leadership of Alhaji Damisa Suleiman was focused at changing the narratives of the commodity for good in the State.

Highlights of the Inaugural Meeting were deliberations on issues that will move the Association forward in the State as the Executive set up a Financial Committee to be headed by Ogazuma Abubakar as Chairman, while Mr. John Paul heads the Technical/Implementation Committee as Chairman.
