Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kogi state Council, has hailed Governor Yahaya Bello for numerous legacy infrastructural development recorded in his seven years of leadership of the state.

Following the celebration of the 7th year anniversary in office by the Governor, the NUJ in Kogi state resolved to, as part of its responsibility to hold leaders accountable, embarked on tour of projects and programs executed by the government with the view to assess performance.

The facilities tour led by the State NUJ Chairman, Comrade Adeiza MomohJimoh, has the state Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mr Kinsley Fanwo and his counterpart in the state Ministry of Education, Mr. Wemi Jones in attendance.

The media tour of the facilities which started over the weekend has reached the GYB Model Science Secondary School Adankolo in Lokoja local government area of the state.

Commissioner of Education, Honourable Wemi Jones, who received the visiting Journalists at the multi billion naira edifice, explained that the State government plan to establish the science secondary schools across the state, to tap the potentials of the Youths to meet up with the challenges of the world in science and technology.

Hon. Wemi said with the science and technology schools, the state Universities, especially the Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTEC) would have ready Students for admission in various disciplines.

He disclosed that the magnificent two story building has 18 classrooms, 6 standard laboratories and well equiped Computer Based Test Hall for the 1080 students attending the Senior and Junior Secondary Schools.

The touring Journalists proceeded to the Ganaja junction, where a flyover bridge was constructed by the Bello administration at a minimum cost of about N5 billion as disclosed by the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Hon. Kinsley Fanwo.

The Commissioner stated that the initial cost of the flyover bridge was put at over N20 billion by the immediate past administration.

Fanwo, who commended the Governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello for the prudence management of the resources, said the construction of the bridge has been saving lives and properties as accidents at the junction has drastically minimized.

At the new state owned University, Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTEC) Osara, the whole place was littered with new buildings, some completed and others near completion, while comprehensive road network sprawl the campus.

It is a sign of commitment and readiness to achieve set objective by both the government and the management of the institution.

The Vice Chancellor of the Confluence University of Science and Technology, (CUSTEC), Professor Salihu Sadiku, while welcoming the visiting Journalists, said the institution was established in the year 2022 after passing through due processes of the law including the legislative approval.

Professor Sadiku who expressed gratitude to the Governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello for the foresight in establishing the University, disclosed that apart from the academic excellence to be impacted on the students, mining activities computer services and emerging industries will benefit from the graduands of the institution.

He noted with satisfaction, the determination of the State government and the cooperation of other relevant agencies NUC, TETfund in ensuring the full accreditation of all the programmes now being run by the School..

The VC also disclosed that more faculties like mining and geology was established because the North Central zone which is sitting on mineral resources, adding by the time Ajaokuta Steel Company is revitalized, the products of University will be be the ready manpower.

In his remark, the State Commissioner for Education, Yemi Jones, stated that the Governor has made it a point of duty to constantly visit site to monitor the projects with a bid to ensure timely completion and in accordance with specifications.

At the Referral Hospital Okene, the Commissioner of Information, Hon Fanwo told the Journalists that the facility is second to none in Nigeria and will serve all persons seeking medical tourism abroad.

He disclosed that the Hospital will be concession to a private specialist medical concern which is known across the world, as the Referral Hospital in Kogi state has all the facilities and medics obtainable abroad .
