Kogi state Police Command has rescued 13 victims of kidnap and dangerous weapons and ammunition were recovered at the scene of the fierce gun duel with the hoodlums.
A press release signed by the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), William Aya, (SP), said Operatives attached to the Quick Response Unit have rescued eleven males and two females who were recently kidnapped at a Hotel in Eleite Area along Ajaokuta road.
Sequel to the kidnap, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Akeem Yusuf, ordered that, all efforts must be put in place to ensure all victims are rescued unhurt.
The Operatives of Quick Response Unit led by the Commander, SP Obafemi Ojo, promptly swung into action and through a credible intelligence, the kidnappers were located at their hideout in a forest around Zariagi-Kabba Junction.
According to the PPRO, on sighting the Police, the hoodlums engaged them in a gun duel and owing to the superior firepower of the Police, the hoodlums were forced to flee with varying degree of injuries.
While 13 kidnap victims were rescued unhurt, the gallant officers also recovered from the scene one AK47 magazine containing 6 rounds of ammunition.
The Commissioner of Police who commended the Operatives for their bravery and diligence, urged members of the public particularly the adjoining communities to be on the lookout and report any person or persons seen with bullet wounds to the nearest security formation or agencies.
He equally enjoined the people of Kogi State to continue to cooperate with the Police and provide credible information on the activities of criminal elements so as to curtail their nefarious activities.
