The Chairman of Kogi state civil service board, Barrister Mohammed Tanko Musa Osuku, has vowed to support the Ohiku Egbira Descendants Union to achieve its sole mission.

Barrister Tanko Osuku, who spoke during the union’s meeting at the palace of Ohimegye Igu-Kotonkarfe kingdom, HRM Alhaji Abdulrazak Sani Isa-Koto, said he was impressed with the move of the union, saying such will bring all the Egbira sons and daughters together including those in diaspora to be more united.

He said those who sat to conceived the idea of bringing all the Egbira speaking people under one umbrella through the Ohiku Egbira Descendants Union has made a good move, saying such move has clearly showed that Ebgira will now remain united and as one family.

He noted that the Egbira speaking people in the country has over been marginalized and always be seen as a minority tribe, saying their coming together maintain one dialectical tongue was a great move in the right direction.

The civil service chairman, therefore, called on all the Egbira sons and daughters including the stakeholders to rally round and support the union in realizing the dream of all the Egbira speaking nation.

Also speaking, a member of the house of representatives for Lokoja/Kotonkarfe federal constituency, Hon. Barrister Ibrahim Shaba, said the move by the union to embark on sensitization of the Egbira speaking people across the country was a good one.

He said since other tribes have different dialects, they still remain as one united tribe, which he said the Egbira people also should be seen as one tribe despite different dialectical intonation.

“And that of the Egbira is not going to be an exception, as we need this unity because the Egbira people in the country have been marginalized not only politically but across boards,” he said.
