Kogi Varsity kidnap: Joint Security team rescues 20 Students, 4 still missing.

IDRIS AHMED, Lokoja.

The concerted effort by the joint Security operation to rescue all the abducted Students of the Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTEC), Osara in Kogi State, has yielded positive result as more victims have been rescued

About 24 students of CUSTEC were allegedly kidnapped on Thursday night by some suspected armed bandits.

The rescue operation being carried out led by the Police include the DSS, Police Mobile Force, Civil Defence, Anti terrorism squad and the quick response team alongside the local hunters and Vigilantes

Kogi Varsity kidnap: Ododo vows return of abducted Students, 14 rescued

Briefing Journalists on Tuesday to give update on the unfortunate abduction of the Students, Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsly fanwo announced that 6 more students among those kidnapped have been rescued safely.

” Government wishes to announce the rescue of six more students, bringing the number of the kidnapped students rescued to a twenty (20). Our data shows that there are four students yet to be found.”, Fanwo stated.

According to the Commissioner,. the fierce gun battle between security agents and the kidnappers forced the bandits. to succumb to superior firepower and abandon their kidnapped victims,
as some of the kidnappers escaped with severe bullet injuries

He explained that 14 abducted Students were rescued over the weekend, while the joint force reclaimed the 6 on Tuesday adding that the families of the six students just rescued have confirmed that they have arrived home.

Kogi State Governor, Alh Ahmed Usman Ododo has expressed deep appreciation to the Joint Forces that carried out the operations, urging them to continue the search until the last student is found.
