Late Dokpesi was a trailblazer, Yakubu Mourns Media Icon
One of the foremost Edo State governorship aspirants, Hon. John Yakubu, has mourned the death of High Chief Raymond Dokpesi.
The former chairman of Esan North-East Local Government Area said during an interactive section with newsmen that he was shocked at the death of the chairman of DAAR Communication who passed on in his Abuja residence 2 days ago.
“I am shocked at the news, it came to me as a surprice. Erama, as we used to call him, was full of life. He was a political giant and a trailblazer. He was the one who opened the way for others in private ownership in the broadcasting section of the media in Nigeria with RayPower and AIT. This helped others to go into the business of democratizing broadcasting media.
“Chief was also a philanthropist and a patriot to the core. He used his media house to project Nigeria to the international community to no small measure. He was an inspiration to many. This is what we expect Nigerians to be doing. As they say, ask what you can do for your country.
“Chief Raymond Dokpesi will be sourly missed. His footprints on the sands of our history cannot be discounted easily. He will be remembered for his pioneering effort in broadcasting media, and its development. I condole with his immediate family, the people of Weppa-Wanno, Edo State and Nigeria in general. May God Almighty accept his soul. May those he left behind accept this loss as death is what we all owe.”
