Late Former Edo Speaker, Zakawani Garuba’s Wife, Son, Kidnapped Few Hours After His Death.

Double tragedy has dwelt on the family of former Speaker of Edo House of Assembly, late Zakawani Garuba who died Saturday in Abuja, as his widow and the son were kidnapped along Lokoja- Okene road in Kogi state, few hours same day after his demise .

The wife, son and mother of the deceased were traveling from Abuja enroute Auchi,Edo state, when they ran into the kidnappers along Lokoja – Okene road,while the two spouses were abducted, the aged mother was said to have been dumped at the spot, may be due to her old age

The state Commissioner of police, Ayuba Ede who confirmed the incident said that he has dispatched his men to the scene and awaiting them for details.

The victims who are mourning the death of their benefactor were said to be on their way to Auchi in Edo State, in connection with the earlier news of Garuba’s death.

“Yes, I heard of a kidnap incident around Okene and, I have sent my policemen to the area to ascertain the correct position of things. I do not know what happened exactly, so I cannot confirm what I don’t know. My men have gone there already,” the Commissioner of police said.

The late former speaker’s wife, mother, son and driver were said to be  on their way to the hometown of the deceased when the incident occurred.

The Police public relations officer DSP William Aya later told newsmen that as soon as they got the information,”our men immediately swung into action and three victims were rescued but could not confirm the identity of those rescued.
