Lecturers/Non Academic Staff of COE Akwanga: Nasarawa Assembly enacts law on 65 Years retirement, bill scales second reading.

Nasarawa State House of Assembly, has passed into second reading A Bill For a Law For the Establishment of the Nasarawa State College of Education, Akwanga and Other Matters Connected Thereto.

This, the House said, the bill was seeking to extend the 60 years retirement age of both academic and non academic staff of College of Education (COE) Akwanga to 65 years.

Rt. Hon Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, the Speaker of the House announced the passage of the bill into second reading during the House proceedings today in Lafia.

The Speaker said that the bill if approved would enable all staff of College of Education Akwanga attained 65 years of retirement.

The Speaker, then committed the bill to the House Committee on Education to work on it and report back to the House in a week time.

” A Bill For a Law For the Establishment of the Nasarawa State College of Education, Akwanga and Other Matters Connected Thereto scaled second reading.

” I will commit the bill to the House Committee on Education to work on the bill and report to the House in a week time,” he said.

Also contributing, Hon Abel Bala, the Minority Leader, Hon Daniel Ogazi, the Deputy Majority Leader, Hon Mohammed Okpoku all supported the bill to scale second reading considering its substances.

They said that the 65 years retirement age would enable the staff contribute more to the growth of the institution.

Earlier, Hon Umar Tanko Tunga, the Majority Leader of the House gave a substance of the Bill and moved a motion for the bill to scale second reading.

Hon Abel Bala, the Minority Leader seconded the motion.

The House unanimously passed the bill into second reading after the Bill go through first reading during the day sitting.
