With the release of the time table and schedule for local government elections in Kogi state, political parties and aspirants are now all out to test their popularity in the December 12, 2020 election.

In an interview with Daily Times in Lokoja, on Monday, an All Progressives Congress (APC) Youth Leader in Lokoja local government area, Comrade Ahmed Adams Quincy has predicted that his party the APC will win all the Chairmanship and council seats across the state.

The youth leader said the ruling party in the state will win all the seats overwhelmingly in view of the wonderful performance of Governor Yahaya Bello since he assumed leadership of the state in 2016.

He called on all aspirants to concentrate to reunited in purpose and campaign on issues of peace and development and jettison selfishness, stressing that the party’s principles of a better future should be the focus.

Adams who urged the people to be patient with the present universal economic hardship occasioned by the covid19 pandemic, said the ” what we are experiencing is universal and not caused by the present administration of the state and federal governments”.

He challenged the youths to be courageous in politics and make the difference in governance as exhibited by Governor Yahaya Bello’s new direction policy of an all inclusive system that encompasses all strata of age and equatable distribution of socio-ecomic amenities among all segments that comprise the state.

According Comrade Adams, the local government is the bastion of democracy, where the majority reside and an avenue to be involved in democracy with out hindrance or let.

While commending the Governor for his tremendous achievements in agriculture, roads rehabilitation, water supply, health, education and security, urged him to redouble his efforts in ensuring total transformation of the entire state in all spheres lives.

Meanwhile the opposition Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) has declared its readiness and preparedness to participate in the December local government elections.

The Publicity Secretary of the party in the state Hon. Bode Ogunmola in an interview revealed that guidelines and schedules for the PDP primary election has been released and urged all aspirants for the local government elections to approached the organising secretary for details.
