The third edition of Maikaya Development Foundation football tournament final held today in Toto local government area of Nasarawa State.
The venue of the ceremony was at the Central Primary School sports ground with dignitaries and community members were in attendance.
The state commissioner for health Pharmacist Ahmed Baba Yahaya who represented Nasarawa State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule kicked the ceremonial kickoff in admiration of all.
Official who spoke to our correspondent said 15 teams participated at this year’s tournament which was grouped into A, B, C, and D. This group battle each other to get their place in the tournament.
The Kofa FC hammered Shafa Abakpa with 2:0 after a tactical display from both teams.
Trophy presented to the overall winner which Kofa Fc went home with first, while Shafa Abakpa took second and leaving the Ciroma Fc with third position respectively.
Speaking at the event, the organiser of the tournament, the grand patron, Maikaya Development Foundation, MDF, Alhaji Muhammed Musa Maikaya said sole aims was to give back to the society. He said hosting the football competition will engage the youths and discourage them from crime and drugs.
Maikaya who is a former governorship aspirant in 2019 maintained that the Maikaya foundation’s activities go beyond hosting football competitions, however, unveiled some life-touching programs designed to cater for students, less privilege and empowered of youths and women across the State.
Maikaya who is the Ciroma Toto and President Toto Development Association thanked the Nasarawa State Government and dignitaries from all walks of life for witnessing and supporting his foundation.
He said he would not rest on his oars until more people are empowered for the betterment of the society.
High point of event was presentation of trophy to overall winner and gifts to some participating teams for their outstanding performances.
