Meets Rt. Hon. Abdullahi Ibrahim Balarabe, Speaker Nasarawa State House Of Assembly.

Rt honourable Abdullahi Ibrahim Balarabe is the incumbent Speaker, Nasarawa State House of Assembly, born on 14th February 1963 to the family of Mallam Abdullahi Adamu (Of Blessed Memory) and Mallama Halima Ibrahim also of blessed memory in Umaisha, Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

He is 4th in the family of Eight (8) and happily married to Hajiya Maryam and Hajiya Fatima and blessed with children.

He started his Quranic School under the tutelage of his father, Mallam Abdullahi Adamu, before enrolling into Anglican Transferred Primary School, Umaisha, Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa State from 1971 to 1978.

At the completion of his Primary Education, Balarabe gained admission into Government Secondary School Uke, in the old Keffi Local Government in 1978.

He later enrolled into the University of Abuja where he obtained Diploma in Law, before attending the Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa for both National and Higher National Diplomas in Business Administration after which he returned to the University of Abuja for a Post-Graduate Diploma (PGD) in Political Science.

He holds a Masters Degree in International Relations (In-view) from Nasarawa State University, Keffi.

Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi started his working career as a Classroom Teacher in LEA Primary School Sardauna, Toto LGA between 1983 and 1984. He also served as Clerical Officer: PAULOSA NIGERIA LTD, ABUJA between 1984 and 1988.

In the course of his services, he has helped a lot in character moulding of the young ones (Pupils) as a Class Teacher and by attending to records, staff matters and was able to deliver effectively on all duties and responsibilities.

His political career began with the emergence of Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the hay days of military-political engineering where he held the following political positions: (1) Ex-officio Member: Social Democratic Party (SDP) Gwagwalada Central Ward -1990-1993; (2)

Deputy Secretary:
National Centre Party of Nigeria (NCPN) FCT Chapter – 1994-1996;
(3) Caretaker Organizing Secretary: All Nigeria People’s Party (ANPP)
FCT Chapter -2006-2007; (4)Three Times National Delegate to the -2001-2011 ANPP National Conventions in Nigeria.

Similarly, Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi served as Personal Assistant, Special Assistant and Chief of Staff to various Chief Executive Officers at Gwagwalada Area Council from 2007 – 2015: where he assisted various Council’s Chairmen in coordinating Council activities, organising conferences and seminars.

Hon. Balarabe supervised and monitored projects as well as undertook particular and confidential assignments within and outside the councils for the various Chairmen of the Council within the period.

He was still discharging the responsibilities of his high office when he bowed to the pressure from his people to represent them at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly.

Interestingly, during the All Progressive Congress (APC) Primary Elections in Umaisha/Ugya Constituency, Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi recorded a land mark victory against three (3) other contenders and was declared the Party’s candidate.

His candidature was a powerful bulwark which clearly manifested in the April 11th Gubernatorial and the House of Assembly elections that followed, where he emerged victorious with over Seven Thousand (7,000) votes against his two opponents that jointly pulled Four Thousand (4,000) votes in all.

As the saying goes”A golden fish has no hiding place”, prior to the inauguration of the Fifth Nasarawa State legislature, other Honourable Colleagues quickly noticed the traits of leadership in Balarabe, not only as a leader, team player and a distinguished gentleman, but a suave coordinator and strong political calculator and unanimously elected him as the Chief Legislative Officer (Speaker) on Tuesday 9th of June, 2015.

As the representative of the people of Umaisha/Ugya Constituency and the Chief Presiding Officer of the Fifth Assembly, Balarabe has remained a mentor, a monitor and a very dutiful parliamentarian in all responsibilities.

He has also remained a team player, according to due respect to all Honourable Members and accepting positive contributions and initiatives from all, regardless of any political or sectional affiliation.

His performance in the 5th Assembly was highly impressed that it was an easy sail for him to re-assume the mantle of leadership of the House of Assembly once more.

And so on the 10th June 2019, Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi was re-elected Speaker of the 6th Assembly without a single voice of opposition.
