Lionel Messi wants to leave Barcelona. According to information from Alfredo Martínez of ‘Onda Cero’, the Argentine has reportedly told the club that he wishes to leave this summer. It is his intention to leave the club by using the clause in his contract that allows him depart for free.

Messi communicated the shock news to Barcelona on Tuesday by fax after he held a meeting last week with Ronald Koeman to discuss his future. The player already told the club that he sees himslelf more out than in, but the news will come as a blow to the Dutch manager who was counting on Messi to be one of the pillars of his new project.

The question will now be, if Messi departs the club, which team will he go to. There are three main contenders for the Argentine’s signature: Inter Milan, Manchester City, and PSG. Inter are perhaps the side that are better placed as it was revealed last week that the Inter owners are asking for sponsors to sign the star.
