The National Association of Kogi State Students (NAKOSS) National Body under the leadership of Yaqub Enesi Tijani has administered the oath of office and allegiance for newly elected officials of the Association which includes Senate President, Sen. Adamu Danjuma, Chief Whip, Sen. Buhari Idris Osada and others respectively.
This is followed by the election of new leadership and the tenure of former executive members whose tenure elapsed after a constitutional one-year term.
While Inaugurating the officials, the President of the NAKOSS National, Yaqub Enesi Tijani, congratulated the new Senate President, Chief Whip and all other elected officials for their emergence, urging them to bring their wealth of experience to bear even as he charged them to contribute their quota to the growth and progress of the organisation.
“In line with the constitution of NAKOSS conferred on me as the President of this noble organisation, I hereby confirmed you as duly elected Senate President and all other officials.”
The swearing-in ceremony took place during the senate sitting at the NAKOSS House along Okene/Kabba road Lokoja, Kogi State and in presence of all the National executive members.
While admonishing the excos, President challenged them to pool their strengths together towards the achievement of their administration.
“There is always much you can achieve by working together as a team.”
He urged them to begin their administration with honour and respect, saying his new administration would not be happy seeing them embarrassing one another on social media because that disparages the image of the union, the institution they represent and the State e in general.
He commended the government, students and every other stakeholder who contributed towards the success of their elections, and pledged to provide emphatic and inclusive leadership that will improve the structure devoid of rancour. The President assured.
The president of the union used the occasion to appeal to students to be confident in their administration and the administration’s determination to succeed and protect the interests of the students.
Shortly after the swearing-in, the Senate President, Senator Adamu Danjuma appreciated the Kogi State Students for the honoured done them by electing them to represent them at the National body.
The Senate President used the ceremony to recount his experience with the previous administration and advised them to adjust to any conflicting situation they might be confronted with.
“The Union as a body has organs and grievances amongst you should be exhausted at the appropriate unit before coming to the management for any complaint.”
The Senate president also thanked the Commissioner for Solid Mineral and Natural Resources, Engr. Muhammed Abubakar Bashir Gegu for his effort at ensuring the success of the elections and subsequent running of the NAKOSS leadership.
Senator Danjuma Adamu said the commitment of State Government support for student union activities cannot be overemphasised, and promised to maintain a robust relationship between the students, management and the union. He, therefore, called on all the Excos to remain truly committed to the mandate given to them.
The Chief Whip, Buhari Idris Osada on his part promised to do his best towards ensuring the success of the new Excos. He assured the Excos that their administration is “the one that will work for all.”
The Financial Secretary equally used the medium to emphasize that the financial book of the union under their administration shall be prudently kept.
With the NAKOSS guideline rule and before the swearing-in ceremony, Deputy Senate President Zuleihat Muhammed declared the ceremony open.
She said the swearing of the student executive was coming after the conduct of the elections to the NAKOSS National.
According to her, the elections however led to the emergence of President Yaqub Enesi Tijani as the union’s president, Adamu Danjuma as the Senate President, Shuaibu Shehu as the Assistant secretary general, Buhari Idris Osada as Chief Whip and Mubarak Abdulrasheed, Vice Preside t External.
Others include Salama Momoh Jimoh, Vice President on Special Duties, Otaru Abdulganiyu Ohinoyi Action on Mobilization and Evaritus Jnr. Oluwanimilo, Financial Secretary
Abubakar Onu Farouk as the financial secretary. The position of the vice presidency was however declared due to the disqualification of the aspirants for numerous reasons.
Also speaking, Otaru Abdulganiyu Ohinoyi, Vice President of Action on Mobilization assured the student of their readiness and determination to give them quality representation, calling on them to avail their support and loyalty to enable them to succeed in their new tasks.
