Nasarawa Assembly begins inspection of Road Construction to Ensure Quality Job.

Nasarawa State House of Assembly has expressed dissatisfaction with the slow pace of work at the ongoing construction of 24kM Idadu/Agashi road in Doma LGA of the State despite the huge amount of money released to the contractor by the State Government saying that the House will not allow any contractor to short change government and the people of the State.

The House also called on the contractor handling the ongoing construction of a Police Station at the 500 Housing Unit Doma Road, Lafia to redouble effort while advising the State Government particularly Ministry of Works to step up its monitoring team to ensure contractors meet up with contracts specifications.

Hon Abdulaziz SK Danladi, the Chairman House Committee on Works expressed the committee displeasure when it commences inspection of projects in Lafia, Doma and Awe Local Government Areas today Wednesday.

He urged the contractors handling government projects to ensure that work in accordance with their contracts specifications urging the contractor handling Idadu/Agbashi road in Doma LG to improve on the standard of work and speed up to justify the half payment of the contract sum released to him by the State Government.

According to him, we are not happy with the quality of works done so far by the contractors handling construction of a Police Station at 500 Housing unit Doma Road Lafia, Idadu/ Agbashi road and we advised them to improve on their works as we will not tolerate sub standard work.

” We are out to see things for yourselves with the view of correcting any abnormality, if discovered.

” We are not here to witch hunt anybody but to ensure that the right things are done in order to justify government huge investment in projects execution.

” These projects were awarded by the government in order to improve on the lives of our people.

” As it will also boost the socio economic activities of our people thereby boosting the revenue base of the state.

” We urge contractors to improve on the quality of works as what we want is quality and standard works for the project’s durability.

“This contractor handling Idadu/Agbashi road, we are meant to understand that government has released half of his money but see where we are, the pace of the work so far has not justified that” Hon. SK added.

On his part, Mr Uba Mohammed of Bakirijiya Ventures Ltd, the Contractor handling the construction of Police Station at 500 Housing Unit, Doma Road Lafia said that the government awarded the contract at the sum of N24.2million.

and has recently released N10million assuring of his readiness to deliver.

The contractor pledged to ensure that work is done according to specifications.

Mr Wang Zengxiang of Road and Bridge International Nigeria Ltd, the contractor handling 24km Idadu/Agbashi road said that the company has recieved N1.2 billion out of N2.7billion contract sum for the construction of the road.

” This project has the duration period of 12months and we started the road by February this year and by God’s grace, we will complete the road by January, 2023.

” we want to assure you of our readiness to improve on the quality and ensure that good job is delivered,” Mr Wang said.

Mr Housam Malaab of Rim Company Limited ,the Contractor handling 22km Adudu/Azara road assured that the work would be done according to specifications.

It would be reported that the inspection had in attendance Mr Polar Zerga, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works, who led other management of the ministry.
