Nasarawa Assembly Committed To Grassroots Development – Says Hon. Usman Labaran Shafa

Hon Usman Labaran Shafa, member representing Toto/ Gadabuke Constituency at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, says that the House is committed to grassroots development in order to improve on the standard of living of rural dwellers.

Hon. Shafa, Chairman, House Committee on Health and Deputy Chairman, House Committee on LG stated this while playing host to officials of the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees ( NULGE), Toto LG branch as well as branches of Umaisha and Gadabuke Areas today in Assembly complex Lafia .

He appreciated the union for the visit and has assured them of his commitment to vote in favour of local government autonomy when the State Assembly commence deliberation on the bill for LG autonomy.

” Mr Speaker, Rt Hon Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi has made it clear when officials of Nigeria Labour Congress visited the House demanding for local government autonomy, state legislature and judiciary autonomy that the House was in support of autonomy of local government, state legislature and judiciary.

” This he said was to enhance grassroot development and good governance in the country.

” I want to assure you that I will do your bidden, what you want is what I will do for you.

” Be rest assured that I will vote in favour of local government autonomy and other demands as requested by you as soon as we commence discussion on the amendment bill” he said

He has called on NULGE , other workers and people of his constituency to support Gov Abdullahi Sule to succeed beyond 2023.

Earlier, Mr Omaaki Yusuf Adamu, Chairman, NULGE, Umaisha Development Area said that the visit was an advocacy visit in order to solicit the support of the lawmaker in the area of local government autonomy, financial autonomy of the state legislature and state Judiciary among other demands.

The chairman has commended Rt. Hon Ibrahim Balarabe bdullahi, who represent Umaisha/ Ugya constituency and Hon Usman Labaran Shafa for their leadership qualities at the state legislature.

He said that the two lawmakers from their constituencies are doing well and called for more support for them to succeed.

They have assured them of their prayers and support to enable them succeed.

” This is also to enable us and other people of our constituencies enjoy more dividends of democracy,” he said

Also speaking, Comrade Hussaini Usman Dantsoho, NULGE Ex- Officio of North Central also appealed to the lawmaker to support the local government autonomy and other demands of the union.

He appreciated the speaker and Hon Shafa over their purposeful leadership in the House.

It would be reported that the visit had in attendance Mr Adamu Danladi Maikeke, NULGE Chairman, Gadabuke Development area, Mr Hagai Iliya, NULGE Chairman, Toto Local Government Area among other NULGE officials.
