Nasarawa Council Election To Holds In February Next Year- NASIEC

Preparation gear towards the forthcoming council poll in the State seems to have been concluded as the Nasarawa State Independent Electoral Commission (NASIEC) says the commission would conduct the state local Government election come February 2021.

Hon. Henry John-Omaku, the NASIEC chairman made this known on Thursday when the State House of Assembly committee on NASIEC visited the commission on an oversight function in Lafia.

Omaku said that the commission is working seriously towards ensuring that election holds February next year considering the importance of election to societal development.

“We are working hard to conduct the state Local Government election next year and subsequently the handing over will be by May 28th/29th same year, ” he said.

The NASIEC boss equally solicited for support of the Assembly members for the realization of the local government election in the state.

He, however, said that the commission is faced with challenges of utility, vehicles among others.

Responding, the Chairman, House Committee on NASIEC, Hon. Mohamed Okpoku, has expressed the committee’s happiness with the commission’s activities particularly on the planned election,

Hon Okpoku (APC), a member representing Udege-Loko State constituency assured the commission of the committee’s support to enable its succeed in its activities.

The committee’s chairman urged the management of the commission to be up and doing towards the success of the election.
