Nasarawa Speaker assures that only Assembly casual staff will be absorbed into Civil Service

The Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria, Nasarawa State chapter has passed vote of confidence on the Speaker Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Honourable Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, recommending him for 7th Assembly Speakership.

Chairman of the state chapter of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria, Comrade Suleiman Oshafu, who led the new leadership of the Association on the familiarisation visit on the Speaker Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt.Hon Ibahim Balarabe Abdullahi, commended the Speaker for his purposeful leadership that brought peace and improved the standard of living of the staff of the Assembly.

Comrade Oshafu who expressed gratitude to the Honourable Speaker over his Leadership style, attested that the Assembly has never had it so good like now.

” There is peace, unity,progress and development and most importantly the approval for the regularisation and absorption of the casual staff of the State Assembly.

” We are appreciate and praying for you and appeal to the Assembly members of the state House of Assembly to return you as the Speaker because you have done extremely well for the peace tranquility and development of the state,” Comrade Oshafu said.

Speaker, Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, in his response, assured that only the over 100 casual staff of the House as approved by Gov. Abdullahi Sule would be absorbed into the main stream of the civil service in the State.

He however warned against the inclusion of outsiders in the ongoing recruitment process of the casual staff of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly.

Rt. Hon. Abdullahi said that absorption of the casual staff would improve on their standard of living and that of their family members.

” His Excellency, Gov. Abdullahi Sule has given an Approval for the absorption of the whole casual staff of the State Assembly and not for any other person from outside.

” I told my Honourable members and members of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly Service Commission that there is no slot for anybody. I want to assure you that only the casual staff will be fully regularized and absorbed into the main stream civil service in this Assembly,” he said

“Many of them are here for many years, some 15 years some above, this is a golden opportunity for them and I can not allow them to be short changed, all of them will get it as approved by the Governor” the Speaker added.

The Speaker congratulated the new officials on their well deserved victories during the election.

He appreciated members of the association for always supoorting his policies and programmes.

” There is perfect relationship between PASAN leadership and the House authority. PASAN is one body that I appreciate so much . You struggle for financial autonomy of the State Houses of Assembly and today by God’s grace, we have achieved that. Very soon, it is going to be implemented,” he said.

The Speaker assured them of his full support to the association to succeed, calling on them and other people of the State to continue to give Gov. Abdullahi Sule’s administration full support to succeed.

” There was never a time that I took the House problem to His Excellency, Gov. Abdullahi Sule without him listening or given approval to our request.

” What we want in the assembly is peace and development. So that we will have a better Assembly,” he added.

In another development, Nasarawa State House of Assembly, has assured Gov. Abdullahi Sule of full support in order to better the well being of the people of the State.

The Speaker, of the House gave the assurance while announcing the passage of the two executive bills into law during the House proceedings in Lafia on Wednesday

Rt. Hon. Balarabe said that the tremendous achievements in the State was as a result of good relationship between the executive the legislative and the judicial arms of government.

He announced the passage into law of a Bill for a Law to Establish the Nasarawa State Erosion, Watershed and Climate Change Agency ( NASEWCCA) and Other Matters Connected Therewith.

He said that the agency would reduce the vulnerability of soil to erosion in targeted sub- catchment areas, prevent and reverse land degradation.

” A Bill for a Law to Establish the Nasarawa State Erosion, Watershed and Climate Change Agency ( NASEWCCA) and Other Matters Connected Therewith third reading and passed,” he said.

He also announced the passage into law of a Bill for a Law to Establish the Nasarawa State Social Investment Agency Charged With the Responsibility of Tackling Poverty, Ensuring Equitable Distribution of Resources and Economic Growth in the State and for Other Matters Connected Therewith.

He said that the agency would tackle poverty and ensure equitable distribution of resources and economic growth for the overall development of the state.

The Speaker, therefore directed the clerk of the House to produce clean copies of the two bills for Gov. Abdullahi Sule’s assent.

Earlier, Hon Umar Tanko Tunga, the Majority Leader of the House moved a motion for the bills to scale third reading.

Hon Abel Bala, the Minority Leader seconded the motions and the House unanimously passed the two bills into law.

Similarly, the House recieved the report of the House Standing Committee on Health on a Bill For a Law to Amend the Nasarawa State College of Nursing and Midwifery Law, 2021 and other Matters Connected Therewith.

The report was presented by the committee Chairman, Hon Usman Labaran Shafa.

The Speaker then slated next week Tuesday, 16rh May, 2023 for the deliberation of the report.

In a another development, the House also received the report of the House Standing Committee on Judiciary, Ethics and Privileges on a Bill For a Law to Amend the Number of Judges of the Superior Courts of Record Law 2001 and for Related Matters.

The report was presented by Hon Mohammed Ibrahim Alkali, the Vice Chairman of the committee.

The Speaker then slated next week Tuesday, 16th May, 2023 for deliberation of the report.
