In his determination to assist the less privileged and cushion the effect of the dwindling economic fortunes of the people, Speaker Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt Honourable Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, has empowered his constituents with cash and material items worth over N16 million.
Balarabe Abdullahi of the APC, representing Umaisha/Ugya state constituency, distributed the items on Sunday in Umaisha,Toto LGA of the state, for the overall development of the constituency and the state in general.
The Speaker who gave 100 indigent students N30,000 cash each as part of his scholarship programme, also gave N30,000 cash each to 100 market women to boost their businesses.
70 women got sewing machines each, while other 70 received grinding machines each and over 800 pieces of wrappers were distributed to some women in the constituency.
The lawmaker also presented 40 water pumping machines , 50 cartoons of herbicides and 40 sprayers in order to boost food security in the constituency, the sState and Nigeria at large.
The Speaker stated that the N30.000 each to 100 students is his annual “Balarabe Education Support Programme” as scholarship to deserving students, while the 30,000 each to 100 women is also an annual gesture to enable them start small businesses under the “Balarabe Women Empowerment programme”.
“Since my first election in 2015, I initiated these programmes aimed at reducing hardship among my people which by God’s grace I hope to sustain”, he maintained.
“My people are of the riverine, mainly farmers and fishermen and I deem it necessary to procure agricultural inputs for them” the speaker added.
He use the opportunity to call for prayers and support for president Muhammadu Buhari,Governor Abdullahi Sule and other leaders at all levels to succeed.
In his address Governor Abdullahi Sule, who was represented by Secretary to the State Government (SSG) Ahmad Aliyu Tijani, emphasized that since 2015 Balarabe Abdullahi has changed the narrative in grassroot politics in the state describing him as an asset to APC as a party, called on others to emulate him.
On their parts, the national vice chairman of APC, North Central Ahmed Suleiman Wambai, Alh Aliyu Bello, APC State Secretary who stood in for his Chairman, Chairman of the occasion Yusuf Musa Omaki, State Commissioner for Health Pharmacist Ahmed Baba Yahaya among others who showered encomium on the Speaker calling on the people of the area to continued their support for him and the party for more dividends of democracy.
The deputy speaker of the state Assembly Rt. Hon Nahemiah Tsentse Dandaura supported by Hon Mohammed Ibrahim Alkali described the Speaker as a leader worthy of emulation praying God to uplift him the more.
It will also be recalled that during the speaker’s first tenure and within hundred days he sank boreholes across the six electoral wards in his constituency, donated six vehicles and six motor circles in 2015.
It would also be recalled that in December, 2016, the speaker also gave scholarship, and distributed modern flying boats and vehicles, among other items, worth N14 million empowerment items, and the 2018 magnanimity
worth N15 million to his constituents.
