Natives Launches FCT Youths Network In Abuja

Natives of the FCT under the umbrella of the Abuja Original Inhabitant Youths Empowerment Organisation (AOIYEO) in the territory has launched a network platform, tagged (FCT Youth Network).

The executive director of organization, Commandant Isaac David, while speaking at the launching of the youth network on Saturday, in Abuja, said the Youth Network was launched in order to bridge gap between the government and the people of the FCT.

He said the launch of the youths network platform, where coordinators we selected across the six area councils of the FCT, is in line with the organization objective to build bridges between the people from the grassroots to urban communities.

He stated that the FCT Youth Network will be the most extensive grassroots network in Abuja, saying the organization had done lots of revisions and decided to formalise it and furnish it with its community-building objectives.

He noted that from increased citizen participation in governance, it enhance accountability exercise that will attract empowerment opportunities and sustaining positive community campaigns.

“As we want a peaceful coexistence to exist between the government and residents of the FCT. And through this network, we are allowing the youths to become good ambassadors of change for tomorrow future,” he said.

He added, “also, in terms of agitation, in the whole, there is no country or state that has fully benefitted from the government, so the people will continue to agitate for what we need from the government,” Issac said.

According to him, the youth will keep on soliciting fromo the government to grant the youth desires, which he said was the reason for creating the platform to build the FCT youths for good governance.

Also speaking, the senior special adviser on community development to the chairman of AMAC, Comrade Yunusa Ahmadul Yusuf, while expressing delight for the setting up of the FCT youth network platform, advised the government to key into the initiative, rather than taken it for granted.

He said the platform is to ensure good governance for the people of FCT, residents, and indigenous people of the territory.

“We are here to show how united we are and how focused we remain. I feel that the government should not take this group for granted. It is a launch for all of us, this is FCT Youths Network, it is not called FCT indigenous group, it is a group for all FCT youths,” he said.

Yusuf added “It is a platform for us to be united, both the indigenes and non indigenes. Today, if there is no electricity, water, or health care system in any of the satellite towns, it affects everyone. That is why this network which is to ask for accountability in government,” he said.
