Following the nomination and subsequent appointment of Ms Lauretta Onochie by President Muhammadu Buhari, the Niger Delta Council of Chiefs have congratulated Ms Lauretta Onochi on her well deserved appointment as Chairman, Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
In a press statement signed and issued by Chief Efe Olowu, National Chairman and Chief Freedom Otah, National Secretary respectively noted that the appointment as the best parting gift for the people of Niger Delta region by Mr President
“We believe with this appointment all maladministration, indiscriminate and misused of allocation of the commission shall be a thing of the past going by Onochie pedigree
For those who cross the path of the chairman, Onochie, they can testify that she represents everything Mr President represent; Transparency, Decency, Uprightness, Selflessness and Doggedness
“These are the qualities the commission needs at this moment to deliver on its mandate.”
“We hereby call on our Brothers and Sisters from Itsekiri, Ijaw, Urhobo, Isoko in Delta state to support the appointment.”
As the NDDC act accommodates everyone from the oil producing state to function as Executive Position in the commission
Meanwhile the group also accused some opposition leaders for strictly opposition to Onochie’s appointment even as the openly calls out PDP leaders to wallow down their unnecessary criticism that it won’t change anything.
Investigation revealed that those opposing the appointment are only head bent on milking the NDDC dry in which they sponsored different groups against the appointment
Therefore, the group appealed to Mr President Muhammadu Buhari not to give listening ears to those group of scavengers. The statement added.
