In less than two months to the 2023 general elections, former President of the federal republic of Nigeria and elder’s statesman, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has made another last minutes politics U-Turn, this time around Chief Obasanjo pitch tent with the former Governor of Anambra State and Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, Peter Gregory Obi.
Reacting to the development, the Presidential Candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Prince Adebayo Adewole says despite the choice of the former president for the 2023 election he is content in winning the poll following the support he is currently enjoyment from Nigerians across religion and ethnic dimensions.
Adewole noted that the endorsement of Peter Obi, by former President Olusegun Obasanjo was of no consequence as it would not affect the chances of it’s victory at the poll.
This was contained in a statement issued on Sunday, in a statement on Sunday, by the SDP National Publicity Secretary/ Director Media and Publicity of National Campaign Council, Ambassador Rufus Aiyenigba, said Obasanjo’s stance would not affect the chances of Prince Adebayo.
According to Aiyenigba, the SDP presidential candidate undeniably meets the Southern presidency advocacy of many as led by the former president and many other prominent national leaders.
According to him, Is Peter Obi’s endorsement by former President Obasanjo capable of affecting Adebayo’s chances at the polls? Not at all. If anything, it has even enhanced the chances of Prince Adewole Adebayo, the SDP candidate, considering that he ticks the boxes as espoused by the former president, Baba Obasanjo.
He said: “Prince Adewole Adebayo undeniably meets the Southern presidency advocacy of many as led by the former president and many other prominent national leaders. Adebayo meets the boundless and essential energy requirement for the top job; he meets the requirements of deep grasps of transformational leadership and development issues; vision and soundness of mind, as well as the character and integrity quotient as listed.
“Adebayo is more youth- friendly in practical terms, considering the hundreds of jobs he has created through his various businesses and enterprises, as well as the huge verifiable number of young Nigerians he has empowered, still empowering and mentored and still mentoring.
