Okaito Community Benefits from Tazan Foundation’s Humanitarian Gesture

 

 

Keeping to his promise of complimenting governments efforts through the State Ministry of Health in eradicating malaria across the Local Government Areas in Kogi State, Tazan Foundation recently distributed mosquito nets to Okaito Community in Okehi LG.

Founder of Tazan Foundation and the Director of Foreign Affairs and Integration, United Arab Emirate of National Youths Council of Nigeria, NYCN in Diaspora, Tazan Saahibfatiu Onimisia, in a chat with newsmen said that the foundation amidst other projects, plans to help achieve zero malaria society in the State.

According to him, the mosquito nets distributed to the habitants of Okaito, at Okehi LG, is strategic as several persons in the Community have no idea on how to protect themselves from mosquito bites which is the cause of malaria.

“Insecticides treated nets have become a core intervention for malaria control and have contributed greatly to the decline in disease incidence and malaria-related deaths

“World Health Organization WHO, statistics reveals that malaria still kills a child every two minutes, adding that no child should die because they could not access life-saving services to prevent, detect and treat the disease” he said.

He stressed that malaria has become a major public health problem, especially to those living at the grassroots and remote areas in the urban cities.

While advising the Community members to get use to using the mosquito nets, ensure to keep hygienic environment and avoid self medication, Tazan pleaded with citizens of the state to complement government efforts in all sectors of life.

He however stressed that the mosquito distribution exercise and sensitization will still continue across various Local Government Areas of Kogi State, while lauding the state government under the leadership of His Excellency, Governor Yahaya Bello for the giant strides recorded across all sectors.

One of the beneficiaries, Amoto Adeiza, thanked the Foundation for sensitizing them on how to protect themselves from mosquito bites, stressing that he and his household will make proper use of the knowledge and as well preach the knowledge to others.

Another beneficiary, Ize Ogirima, pleaded for more partnership with the Foundation to help secure more of the mosquito nets and make it a constant project as most people in the Community lacks access to such treated Musquioto nets, charging the Foundation to sustain its efforts at reaching out others, especially at the grassroots.
