Palliatives: Nasarawa Assembly committee summons all Commissioners, LG Chairmen

The Nasarawa State House of Assembly Committee investigating alleged diversion of palliatives by some government officials and stakeholders has today Monday met with Five Local Government Chairmen of Keffi zone of the State in continuation of its investigation.

The Chairmen who appeared at the day sitting are those of Kokona, Keffi, Karu and Nasarawa LGAs where that of Toto was represented by his Deputy.

The LG Chairmen explained and presented before the committee documents containing mode of their palliative distribution where the Chairmen of Karu and Nasarawa LGAs were told to go back and return for another re-scheduled day.

Rt. Hon Abel Yakubu Bala, the Chairman of the Committee and Deputy Speaker of the House while speaking said the committee will not left any stone unturned in getting to the root of the matter.

He said the committee has extended its invitation to all the Hon. Commissioners in the State and all the Chairmen of Local Government Areas.

This, he said was to help the committee with relevant information regarding the distribution of palliative in their respective areas.

He emphasized that all Commissioners and Local Government Chairmen of Northern zone which are those from Akwanga, Wamba and Nassarawa Eggon are to appear on Wednesday this week while all Commissioners and LG Chairmen from the Five LGAs of the Southern Zone are appearing on Thursday this week.

” This committee decided to call on you in order to know how the palliatives provided by the Federal and Nasarawa State Governments were distributed in your various local government areas.

It would be reported that LG Chairmen that appeared today before the committee included Hon Baba Shehu of Keffi LG, Hon James Thomas of Karu LG, Hon Muhammed Sani Ottos of Nasarawa LGA, Hon Auwalu Adamu of Kokona LGA an the Deputy Chairman of Toto LGA.
