Dr Uche Ogah, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress and former minister of state, mines and steel development, has ruled out defecting to Peoples Democratic Party in Abia state.

This comes on the backdrops of the recent announcement on purported suspension of the ex-nigerian minister from APC by a factional leadership of the party in Abia state chaired by Kingsley Ononogbu, and backed by the 2023 main governorship candidate of the progressive party, Ikechi Emenike.

Ogah, an ex-Abia governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, in a statement on Wednesday, said he rather quit partisan politics than to support PDP in the state.

He regretted that the successive administrations of ruling Peoples Democratic Party in Abia state has impoverished the people and destroyed the state’s economy and future of the unborn generation.

His words: “How can i support PDP? Am i mad? It’s only a mad man that can support PDP in Abia.

“There is nothing that will make me support PDP, instead, i will leave politics.

“PDP is just a group of people that put themselves together to impoverish the people; to destroy the economy of the state; to destroy the future of the unborn generation.

“There is nothing that will make me support such a group of people”.

On his endorsement on the labour party gubernatorial flag-bearer in Abia state, Alex Otti, instead of the candidate of his party (APC) at the concluded march 18th governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission, Ogah, a foremost Industrialized, posited that he threw his weight behind Otti because he was the only candidate that had the requisite capacity and structure to deliver Abia from the shackles of underdevelopment, economic hardship and poverty foisted on people of Abia state by the outgoing government of the Peoples Democratic Party.

He partly stated: “i told my political structure, Abia Rejoice Movement to go ahead and support him. He is the candidate that can take care of Abia.

“Ikechi Emenike was not a candidate because, he didn’t come to contest election. He cannot win his poling unit.

“In 2019, i told Abians that if you cannot vote for Buhari, don’t vote for me. I stood and campaigned for Buhari. Did Ikechi Emenike campaign for Bola Tinubu for one day? Did he ever mentioned Tinubu’s name anywhere?

“So, we’re going to do our own letter to the President-elect, and tell him how much he collected from PDP to destroy APC in Abia state”.

Recall that Alex Otti, an ex-bank chief and the Governorship flagbearer of the Labour Party (LP) in Abia State, emerged as the new Governor-elect of the state and winner of the concluded March 18th 2023, gubernatorial election.

He polled a total of 175, 467 votes cast to beat his closest rival and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Okey Ahiwe, who scored 88,529 votes to come second in the elections.

The flagbearer of the Young Progressive Party(YPP), Enyinnaya Nwafor came a distant third with 28,972 votes while Mr Ikechi Emenike, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress(APC), scored a total of 24,091 votes to gain a third place.
