As a matter of fact, the palpable political Imbalance as identified and pointed out in Kogi, Kotonkarfe local government stands to be a burning issue which cries to high heavens. Kogi (KKF) LGA which has 3 districts came together to form 3 geopolitical zones for political and electoral exigencies, accepted, tested and found to be workable and suitable by the people. The zones are A, B and C.
In zone ” A” there are 3 electoral wards namely,
I Ukwo ward
ii Odaki ward
iii Girinya Ward
It is obvious that there is no concentration of appointments in zones B and C. However zone A is having bloated and concentrated appointments without spread even within the zone that has 3 wards.
Regrettably however, Ukwo ward to the exclusion and detriment of Odaki and Girinya wards as it has 6 political appointments. No doubt that Ukwo ward is the stronghold of the opposition PDP.
The political promoters of Ukwo ward and the SSA Security Abdulkarim Isah ECOMOG do not wish the ruling APC well. This is evidenced that as at the time these political jobbers pushed for the appointment of Abdulkarim Isah ECOMOG there were already 5 political positions given to Ukwo ward alone and the 6th came as SSA Security.
They are as follow:
1. Chairman Kogi Local Government Service Commission
2. Chairman Civil Service Commission
3. SSA Security
4. Chairperson School of Health Obangede
5. Members Health Management Board
6. Member House of Representatives.
These 6 political appointments were made at the pleasure of Governor Yahaya Bello upon lobbying and insistence on wrong presentation of political arrangement of Kogi (Koton-karfe) LGA which GYB is not conversant with.
Already, the said SSA security is busy parading himself as an anointed Chairman of Kogi LGC. If that is allowed to happen then there is going to be a political ” harakiri” to the detriment of the APC. God forbid.
