Ahead of the nation’s general elections, political actors and stakeholders have been moving round the countries to secured support especially from electorates.
The flag-bearer of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, Prince Adewole Adebayo alongside his party leadership were in Edo State, particular the Edo south region to meet with the people.
The legal luminary cum politician assured the residents of adequate development if elected president of Nigeria in the 2023 election.
Adewole spoke during a town hall meeting and Political Debate which held on 23rd December, 2022 in Auchi, Edo State.
The SDP presidential candidate appreciated the contributions of the people of the region to the peace, unity and progress of the country.
“And people from this community have contributed a lot to this country. When you look at the contributions of Edo North to Nigeria and what Nigeria has given back in terms of infrastructure; travelling on the road from Abuja to Auchi and Benin City to Auchi is a testimony of how much this area has been neglected,” he stated.
Prince Adebayo recalled his days as a corps member in Idah, Kogi state, stating that the service year gave him the opportunity to familiarize himself with the people of Edo North and thereby in a better position than other presidential candidates to address the challenges confronting the dwellers.
He promised to build a seaport in Agenebode, if elected president.
The SDP presidential candidate pointed out that the motto of the SDP is “progress”, stating that progress can only be made when there is truth and Justice.
According to him, what is wrong with Nigeria is lack of justice and not lack of money.
The SDP presidential candidate was earlier at the palace of the Otaru of Auchi where he intimated the monarch of his plans to transform Nigeria, if voted into office.
“We have neglected the place of traditional authority in our constitution. We inted to ensure the palace play a major role in the administration of Nigeria,” prince Adebayo told the Otaru.
Other areas of interest listed by the SDP presidential candidate are eradication of poverty, insecurity and unemployment from Nigeria.
In his response, the Otaru of Auchi, Alhaji Haliru Momoh, Ikelebe the Third, told the SDP presidential candidate to put his trust in God, noting that He is the one that truly chooses who to govern and not mankind.
Delta State governorship candidate of SDP and former minister of education for state, Kenneth Gbagi, while introducing Prince Adebayo to the Otaru of Auchi, described the SDP presidential candidate as the most brilliant and most articulated among all the contestants.
On the entourage of Prince Adewole Adebayo are senator Ugochukwu Mbah and the Edo State chairman of SDP, Elder Felix Obayagbon, among others.
