The media aide to Dr.(Arc) Michael Oziegbe Onolememen CON, the PDP Edo Central Senatorial District candidate, said yesterday that the campaigns for his principal would be issue-based.
Comrade Elempe Dele said this during a live program on Political Matters at the Television Nigeria House, Abuja. He also called on Onolememen’s teaming supporters to focus on issues that would endear him to the electorates rather than criticizing and castigating the other candidates arbitrarily.
Dele said, “we are going to lead by example by first making sure we sensitize our supporters on the need for violent-free elections as being recently adopted everywhere in Nigeria. We will also want them to know that INEC is now bent on making elections free, fair and credible, they must key into it.
“The era of focusing on the other candidates in electioneering by trying to bring them down rather than on focusing on issues is no longer in vogue. We are not going to indulge in character assassination and we urge our supporters to do the same. It is purely going to issue-based campaigns as there are several challenges that need addressing in Esanland.
“We are going to work harmoniously with all genuine support groups across the 5 Local Government Areas to deliver Dr. (Arc) Michael Oziegbe Onolememen CON as the next senator. And when he emerges, he will emerge as the leader and representative of the people in general, so there is need to have campaigns that are free from rancour and bitterness. The Esan people are one indivisible homogeneous entity that even politics cannot divide.”
