Hon. Isah Abdulkarim alias Ecomog, the Executive Chairman of Kogi-Koton-karfe local government area of Kogi State, has tendered his resignation after months of suspension by the Kogi State Government over some allegations level against him while in office.

It would be recalled that the former Executive Chairman of Kogi LG was suspended from office on the 25th of August 2021 by the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, after a recommendation by the Kogi State House of Assembly.

Eleven (11) months into his suspension the former chairman saw reason to resign from office, a development many described as a timely and good decision taken so far.

Hon. Isah Abdulkarim in a statement he signed and issued on Monday evening to the Media say during the period of his suspension, there was a series of peace mediations, interventions, and engagements by stakeholders all for reconciliation while the suspension lasted?

According to him, Throughout his suspension, he was never found wanting or guilty in any way or form.

He also said he had consulted widely with his family members, party officials, and stakeholders before arriving at his final destination of resigning his office on 24th July 2022.

“The State Governor, Yahaya Bello finally decided to in the interest of peace, unity, and stability of the APC as a party at the Local Government level and the administration of the entire Local Government Area urged to resign from office as the Executive Chairman of Kogi Local Government Area with immediate effect.

“By this notice, I want to state without any iota of doubt that I remain a very loyal and highly committed party man. This is quite evidenced by the calmness and peaceful conduct we have exhibited and demonstrated all through the period the suspension lasted. In the same spirit, I want to also mention strongly that I, my team (Team Ecomog), and our friends remain strong and committed to the New Direction Government of HE, Alhaji Yahaya Bello.” He stated.

“We shall stay committed to driving conversations and winning the electorates in the coming days leading to the campaign for our party candidates in the forthcoming national and state elections.”

“I wish to finally appreciate and thank our Governor, HE Alhaji Yahaya Bello for his demonstration of leadership in maintaining peace and unity amongst his subjects, our leaders, and friends who intervened severally in ensuring that peace and order are maintained in our LGA.”

Our correspondent investigation revealed that the former chairman resigned to pave way for his new appointment as Senior Special Assistant, SSA, to the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello.

Another source from the Government house who does not want his name in print confided to our reporter that his resignation was to give room for his yet-be announce the appointment, describing the Governor as acting as a father for all and who accommodates everyone not minding where he/she came from.

According to him, Governor Bello is a leader who easily forgives people and allows them to explore by bringing their wealth of experience to bear.

He charged the former Chairman to learn from his past experience and adjust even as he prayed God to grant him wisdom, strength and guidance to serve in his yet to be announce position.
