Go and check through the annals of history, no Demagogue, or what we can conveniently call Cult Personality(that arise when a country’s regime or an individual – uses the techniques of mass media, propaganda, outright lies, falsehood, patriotism, and government-organized demonstrations and rallies to create an idealized, heroic, image of a leader, often through unquestioning flattery and praise) have ever been hugely successful in Africa.
Emperor Bokassa, the Late Ageless Robert Mugabe, Samuel Doe, Late Idris Derby, Ben Ali, Idi Amin Dada of Uganda, Gnassingbe Eyadema, Kamuzu Banda, Said Barre, Charles Tailor, Yayha Jammeh, Obiang Mbasogo, Paul Biya, Jose Dos Santos, Hissene Habre, Omar Bashir, Sekou Toure, Late General Sani Abacha…we can continue to name them as the list is lengthy. But for the misbegotten followers, they do not have lengthy recall back to history as they continue to praise worship these different versions of failures.
We are here talking about even recent ones who their followers and worshippers see as infallible, immortal and hence can do no wrong.
They see them as gods that must be worshipped in their sit-tight dispositions even when they no longer have what it takes to rule over their subjects due to ill-health and other sundries. I mean those leaders who have nothing to offer but to watch as their countries go into waste as ravaged by killers and kidnappers and bandits and terrorists and criminals…
How would you rationalize the indisposition of the president during the burial of his army chief who died in line of duty?
What other welfare can be more befitting than his presence while he is being laid to eternal rest? Is it the unemotional, unimpressive and in.

No leader can rule effectively without compassion, without emotive direction, without sympathy, without pity, without commiseration, without rapport, without appreciation without a soul.
The president lacks all of these human possessions that makes people humane.
Oh no, I await the responses of the gaslighted followers; they will make excuses for the president who could travel miles for a summit in far away Paris but could not attend the untimely burial of his army chief here in Abuja.

(Ask him what transpired in Paris, what they said, what were his responses, he will have nothing to say) What other distance act and disdain can a president show his subjects in the time when the whole country is thrown into feat of mourning? What else can spark and give blood and veins to the rumours milling around about the death of the army chief concerning complicity? Conspiracy Theories don’t just elvove, they are fed.
This president will never last forever, his time will pass like every other mortal whether his followers or praise-singers agree or not. The lessons we shall learn will however be etched in our memories forever.
We must understand that no human is perfect, just like he has shown to us who are still reasonably sane.
