The chairman of the Parents Teachers Association (PTA) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Alhaji Abubakar Usman, has commended the FCT minister, Muhammad Musa Bello, for security measures he put in place especially to enable senior secondary students to write their NECO examination across the territory.
Usman, while speaking with newsmen in Abuja, on Tuesday while reacting to the closure of schools across the FCT over security threat by terrorists, also commended the FCT UBEB chairmanandn director Alhaji Hassan Sule as well as the mandate secretary for Education for their synergy with FCT administration in addressing challenges in the education sector.
He noted that the measures taken by the FCT administration to close down both primary and secondary schools across the FCT because of security threat were the best in the interest of both parents and the government.
‘We as parents believe that the measures taken by the FCT administration giving order to schools to close because of security threat is the best decision, even though I see it a painful but we have no option than to support such move,’ he said.
He, however, regretted that despite efforts by the school’s management and parents were making to ensure students get a quality education, suspected terrorists are bent on trying to cause panic across the schools.
He, therefore, called on parents and residents of the FCT to engage in prayers for Nigeria and FCT to overcome the security challenge.
