TODA 2021 Cultural Carnival: Ohinoyi Of Ogye Urges Subjects To Uphold Culture, Traditions

The Ohinoyi of Ogye chiefdom, Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa state, His Royal Highness (HRH) Alhaji Muhammed Umar Azaki, has called on his subjects for the need to continue to uphold culture and traditions in the chiefdom.

Alhaji Azaki, who made the call at the celebration of the first edition of the annual cultural carnival organized by the Toto Development Association (TODA), on Wednesday, said the need to uphold culture and traditions became necessary, which he said every ethnic group is easily identified and respected.

He regretted that since the advent of technologies across the world, the culture and traditions of the Egbira ethnic group are almost going into extinction.

“It is quite worrisome that our culture and traditions and almost on the verge of going into extinction as the world has become a global village,” he said.

The renowned traditional ruler, while commending TODA for organizing the cultural carnival, said he will ensure that the carnival is organized every year in the chiefdom.

According to him, the palace shall ensure that the cultural Carnival becomes an annual event, which he said will attract every son and daughter as well as those in the diaspora.

He commended the APC-led administration under the leadership of Governor Abdullahi Sule, for a giant stride in the area of infrastructures and security across the state.

Earlier, the national president of Toto Development Association (TODA) Alhaji Muhammed Musa Maikaya, TODA organized the maiden edition of the annual cultural carnival as part of efforts towards strengthening peaceful coexistence among the people of the area.

He noted that tolerance, peaceful coexistence, and unity can be strengthened through showcasing cultural carnival amongst various ethnic groups in the area.

“And besides, TODA has taken the responsibility to this first cultural carnival in Toto as we are not relenting at promoting our cultural values irrespective of tribal differences,” he said “.

Maikaya, commended the governor of Nasarawa state, Engr. Abdullahi Sule led the administration for his efforts in giving priority to the area of security across the state, even as he described the governor as a man devoted to the well-being of people of the state.

Global Times Nigeria correspondent report that the event also witnessed cultural display by various ethnic groups across the local government as well as presentation of excellent awards to some personalities in the area by the president of TODA, Alhaji Muhammed Musa Maikaya.
