As the third edition of Maikaya Development Foundation, MDF, football tournament final come to an end, dignitaries from all walks of life on Sunday stormed Toto local government area of Nasarawa State to witnessed the historic sport event organised by the Maikaya Development Foundation.

The guests do not only watched the beautiful outing and excellent displayed of talents by the two teams who made it to the final, struggling for victory but also took their time to revealed who the Maikaya is.

The occasion which had Nasarawa State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule in attendance through the State’s Commissioner for Health, Pharmacist Ahmed Baba appreciated Maikaya for complementing government efforts in areas of development, peace, unity and youth empowerment among others.

Speaking at the event, the Chairman Kogi State Civil Service Commission, Barrister Muhammed Tanko Musa, said he is witnessing the third edition of the Maikaya Foundation football tournament in Toto.

The Kogi born legal icon noted that the foundation activities cut across all spheres including awards of scholarships to students of tertiary institutions from Toto LGA, State and promote cultural heritage with aim of consolidating on relatively peaceful coexistence of the area.

Barr. Tanko said he was overwhelmed with the successes recorded by Maikaya Development Foundation in all its outing and engagement.

“I am glad to be one of the guests in the football tournament organized by my brother and a friend, who is committed to ensuring the development of his community”.

He said the Maikaya Development Foundation has stood the test of times in the history of not just Toto, but Nasarawa State as a whole, that was why he always made sure the Foundation is encouraged and Supported to fulfilling its mandate.

Barr. Tanko described the foundation’s commitment to socio-economic development of the nation as a beauty to behold.

Comrade Shuaibu Sani, the chief operating officer of the Maikaya Development Foundation, expressed deep satisfaction with peaceful conduct of the people from beginning of the competition to the final. He said the Grand Patron of the foundation, Alhaji Musa Muhammed Maikaya is focus and very resolute to change the narrative even as he is not holding any political office but his impact speaking volume.

Comrade Sani who is also the Senior Special Assistant on youths development to Nasarawa State Governor noted that the foundation has touched thousands of lives in areas of empowerment, educational support programs across the State.

In his brief remark, member representing Toto/Gadabuke state constituency, Hon Labaran Usman Shafa commended Maikaya Development Foundation for making the governance more easy for the present administration under Governor Abdullahi Sule.

He said he is a beneficiary of this gesture being a representative of the people of the area. Shafa appreciated Maikaya’s benevolence and prayed God to protect and grant him more wisdom as he continue to serve his people in his own capacity.

On his part, the Nasarawa State Commissioner of Sports and Youth Development, Ambassador Lucky Isaac Yargwa, lauded the Maikaya Foundation commitment at complementing government efforts of Engineer Abdullahi Sule’s administration as he always supported sporting activities.

Ambassador Yargwa, further explained that the State Government holds in high respect citizens who made sure that their dreams of ensuring peace and unity among the people of Nasarawa state are supported.

” You can see that as a Government we are fully here with customized sports equipment, such as football which is being used in most International leagues.

“The Nasarawa State Government also considered sports, especially football tournaments as panacea for youth engagements and hunting for talents.”

“I can authoritatively tell you that our Governor would do anything to maintain peace and unity among citizens of the State which tournaments as this offers such an avenue.”

“I most sincerely commend our brother Musa Muhammed Maikaya for complementing Government efforts towards achieving peace and unity in Nasarawa State” He added.

Contributing, Barr. Yakubu Galadima, Esq. Said he was in Toto to witnessed the football final of the Maikaya Development Foundation and also to celebrate the personality of Maikaya.

Barr. Galadima who is the Principal Partner and Head of Chambers in Abuja, bared his mind while unveiling some qualities who Maikaya is made up and the people of the area to continue support his initiative.

On his part, Barr. Umar Abdullahi congratulated Maikaya Development Foundation for it’s success for holding the 3rd edition of the football tournament. He said he was impressed with the achievements and positive development Maikaya has attracted to his people through education, empowerment and promoting peace and unity.

Also speaking, Alhaji Yahaya Ibrahim Osada from Universal Basic Education Board, UBEB, Abuja, said he was in Toto to joined his people to encourage their President Toto Development Foundation and Grand Patron Maikaya Development Foundation for his laudable initiative.

Alhaji Yahaya Osada prayed for the success of the foundation continue to grant Maikaya his heart desire so he will continue to add value to the society.

The People’s Democratic Party, PDP, candidate for Toto/Gadabuke constituency, Hon. Abubakar Adamu alias Daura lauded Muhammed Musa Maikaya’s leadership style aim at giving back to the society not minding which direction the beneficiaries came from.

The PDP candidate said he was physical present to support and encourage him to do more for their people.

He congratulated Kofa FC for emerging victorious in the 3rd edition of Maikaya football tournament and appreciated the maturity, love and unity of purpose being displayed by all the 15 participating teams during and after the competition.

Global Times Nigeria report that the Maikaya Development Foundation football tournament featured no fewer than 15 football clubs participated in the competition, however, Kofa FC of Toto and Emani FC of Shafa Abakpa made it to the final.

The Kofa FC emerged champion after defeating Emani of Shafa Abakpa with 2:0 in the final.

Invited guests and community leaders presented medals to the various teams that participated in the competition, some dignitaries were given medals, as well as cultural groups for adding colour to the occasion.

Also in attendance Toto LG Chairman, Hon. Aliyu Abdullahi Tashas who led his wife, Vice Chairman Toto LG, APC Chairman, councilors and some appointees to the final expressed gratitude to Maikaya for using his wealth to better the lot of his people and assured him of the council support.

The Egbira, Gbagy, Gade, Hausa/Fulani and other indigenous cultural groups were also present in solidarity with Maikaya Development Foundation, where they also entertained to the admiration of invited guests.
