Toto/Gadabuke Lawmaker, Hon. Usman Labaran Shafa Unveils Two Years Score Card, Promises To Sustain Development

Hon Usman Labaran Shafa is a Member Representing Toto/Gadabuke Constituency at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly .

The journey of Hon Usman Labaran Shafa who is popularly called Principal started on 10th June, 2019, when he was inaugurated at the hallowed chamber of the Nasarawa State  House of Assembly as representative of the people of Toto/Gadabuke constituency.

After winning 2019 election with a landslide victory where he pulled a total votes of over 23,000, as against his opponent who got about 7000, Hon Shafa immediately set to work for his people.

To set the record straight for the sake of posterity, the “Hon. Principal” set his ball rolling within 100 days in office by drawing up an elaborate programme of his Empowerment Scheme, thus convincing his people that  he is living no stone unturned in service to his people and to humanity.

His election was largely viewed as a child of necessity, prompted by gains of his philanthropic gestures particularly of which were extended to indigent students and even their parents as a school principal.

It was indeed a record breaking legacy for the Constituency to witness for the first time, within Seven months on assumption of office, he demonstrated that as a servant and errand boy of his people he could be trusted and relied upon.

This is when he decided to plough back the little he was able to save and used it to empower his people with items worth N9 million.

On that premise, Hon Shafa gave out items which included 40 sewing machines, 50 grinding machines and 800 wrappers.

In addition, the Hon Principal also distributed 60 cartoons of herbicides and 30 sprayers to farmers in order to boost food production in his constituency.

This silent achieving lawmaker, also veered out to complement in what the Executive arm of government is usually seen to be doing by installing 87 solar street lights where Toto got 40, Shafa Abakpa 20, Shafa Kwato 20 and Enyezi 7 in the first phase of the project.

While in the second phase, 76 solar street lights worth  N4 million was equally installed in his constituency.

To this end therefore, some of the communities that benefited from the street lights included Karmo, Tudu-Uku, Chiji, Gateh, Ahere and Wada respectively.

In the State Assembly, Hon Shafa is the Chairman of House Committee on Health. As a result of his privileged position in this direction, the kind-hearted Principal was able to also secure over 20 appointments for unemployed youths from his Constituency to work with the state health sector, as well as others who were lucky in the judiciary and education sectors, aside numerous admissions secured to study in various tertiary institutions within and outside the state.

All these did not include other on-the-spot cash dolled out to individuals and groups and supports to others though outside his Constituency, but whose influence and vintage positions in life could be of tremendous service or benefits to the Constituency.

That is not all, as a bulwark to incessant road accidents on Nasarawa-Toto highway, Hon Shafa quickly responded to the yearnings and concerns of communities with such challenges by constructing speed-breaks in Kuru, as well as extending the gestures to Tashara-Gadabuke road on request by the affected communities.

Hon Usman Labaran Shafa, member representing Toto/ Gadabuke at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly was also able to facilitate renovation of 2 classroom blocks in primary school at Tudu-Uku and another in primary school at Shafan-Kwatto.

In the same vein, he was also able to facilitate the construction of 3 classroom blocks in Adadu which contract has already been awarded and work is in the process of take-off.

With the fit so far achieved  by the lawmaker within the period of two years, (i.e, half way into his four years mandate), it is hoped that his people would give him more support, more cooperation and more understanding to consolidate on the gains and achievements made so far as recorded, especially when weighted along with his vibrant contributions and performance at House committees and on the floor of the House.

When put together, these are overwhelming achievements that speak volume, especially too that many health bills passed and several other health-related resolutions made in the health sector, actually emerged after a lot of efforts put in by the committee he is chairing.
