Tribunal verdict: I’m still in charge, till 2026 – Says Kuje council chair
The chairman of Kuje area council of the FCT, Alhaji Abdullahi Suleiman Sabo, said he was unperturbed by the judgement of the election petition tribunal which nullified his election, saying he is till in charge of the council, till the end of his tenure in 2026.
Our correspondent had reported that a three members tribunal panel sitting at Magistrate Court, Wise zone 2 Abuja, led Magistrate Muinat Olashade Oyekan, had nullified election at some poling units and ordered INEC to supplementary elections for chairmanship within 90 days.

Sabo, while addressing some his supporters last Thursday, at the council secretariat, said he believed in the judiciary and expressed confident that he will win the supplementary election.
He said since it was the voters came out enmass to vote for him under the PDP platform for his second term in office during the February 12, 2022 chairmanship polls, the voters are ever ready to replicate same at the rerun election.
“By the grace of God, this my second tenure journey that I started as chairman of Kuje area council till 2026 when I will vacate the seat after my second tenure,” he said.
He said despite the opposition party (APC) five elected councillors to tribunal, the councilors still triumphed, saying he was confident that he will win the rerun election across the affected polling units.
The chairman, therefore, urged members and supporters to continue to keep faith with the ruling PDP in the area, adding that they should law abiding to the constituted authorities.
