Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima Declares the 5th National Productivity Summit Open

The Vice President of Nigeria, Senator Kashim Shettima, GCON, officially opened the 5th National Productivity Summit on Tuesday, May 14th. The summit, themed “Achieving Higher Productivity and National Development by Leveraging on Science, Technology, and Innovation,” is aimed at fostering discussions and strategies to enhance productivity and competitiveness in the country.

Organized by the National Productivity Centre, the annual summit serves as a vital platform for engaging stakeholders, experts, and policymakers in productive dialogue. The two-day event held at the NAF Conference Centre and Suites in Kado, Abuja, has participants drawn from diverse sectors of the Nigerian economy.

Distinguished guests in attendance at the opening ceremony included the Minister for Labour & Employment, Rt. Hon. Barr. Nkeiruka Chidubem Onyejeocha, the Minister of Interior, Mr. Olubunmi Tunji Ojo, Senator Diket Plang, the Senate Committee Chairman on Labour and Productivity, Ms. Vannesa Phala, the International Labour Organization (ILO) Country representative, and Dr. Nasir Raji O. Mustapha, Director General of the National Productivity Centre. The event’s lead speaker, Engr Umar Buba Bindir, Chairman of Bindir Knowledge Centre, also graced the occasion.

During the two-day summit, discussions will revolve around three key thematic areas: Water, Agriculture, and Food Security; Manufacturing and Industrial sector; and, Renewable Energy and Climate Change. In addition to insightful discussions, the event will feature exhibitions showcasing innovative solutions and technologies in various sectors.
