It was a show of love for their son as he vies to return to the Nasarawa State House of Assembly representing Umaisha/Ugya State Constituency of Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
Despite the short notice, Mr. Speaker was accorded a rousing welcome and turned the event into a political campaign rally.
There is no doubt that the atmosphere in Toto LG, especially in Umaisha /Ugya Constituency of Nasarawa State House of Assembly where the Speaker Rt. Hon. Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi was full of high ovation on Friday following the visit by the State Number One Lawmaker and the Number Three Citizen. It was also reported that the people of the area defied their businesses, farm and their socio-economic activities for them to be part of history.
The Speaker who is known for visiting home as part of an effort or official routing exercise to see his people was hit by surprise with the degree of groups that came out to welcome him.
A statement by Mr. Jibrin Gwawna, Press Secretary said the ceremony started from Lafia, where the Speaker Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi representing Umaisha /Ugya State Constituency and his team which comprised of his colleague from the area Hon. Usman Labaran Shafa (APC Toto/Gadabuke) Former Lawmaker/Commissioner from the area Hon. Yusuf Omaki, his official aides and security en routes Keffi to Nasarawa LGAs to Toto but was taken by surprise with crops of citizens comprised of stakeholders and Youths of Toto LG led by the Chairman Hon. Abdullahi Aliyu Tashas as they converged in a border town between Toto and Gadabuke Development Area to give him a warm welcome.
As if that was not enough, as they escort Mr. Speaker and on reaching the border of his constituency which is Ugya town another massive group of Youth, women, and students staged a political rally and drummed support for him and this time around were his immediate constituents.
The whole atmosphere turned out to be a surprising political rally for the Speaker and a son of the soil as the people carried different political posters of the Speaker and played different new political songs and music they prepared for him moving around the town in the declaration of their support for him.
It was indeed a great and hectic day for Mr. Speaker as he continued to receive visitors and hold meetings with different groups.
In another development, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Ibrahim Abdullahi Balarabe has successfully lobbied the State Government for rehabilitation and upgrading of Toto/Umaisha Road (48.7 Kilometres) to asphalt.
Global Times Nigeria revealed that the 2022 budget which was passed last year accommodated the Toto/Umaisha Road (48.7 Kilometres) to asphalt.
The Speaker, while hosting and receiving people who have come from different places to welcome him, appreciated them for the show of love and promised to continue to be the vanguard of development.
Rt. Hon. Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi maintained that Toto LG remained the only home and hence to make it work and as well improve its socioeconomic status.
