www.terverakase.com: A Gateway to Akase’s Vision and Mission for Benue

It is often said and rightly too, that the world is a global village. Undoubtedly, technological advancement has continued to make what seemed impossible to become possible with just a click of a button on any available digital gadget or device. This has made human existence better and eased a lot of things just as it has also phased out many seemingly laborious tasks.

In continuation of his bid to govern Benue State come 2023, Mr Terver Akase, a frontline guber aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Friday, February 25, 2022, officially unveiled his manifesto/ campaign website to Benue people- home and in the diaspora. The historic occasion also featured the commissioning of his Campaign Organization corporate headquarters strategically located at No. 66 George Akume Way, Makurdi the State capital.

Evidently, there are many takeaways from this three-in- one event that has continued to elicit widespread positive reactions from Benue people and beyond. First, Akase has earned an enviable spot in history as the first guber aspirant to have his manifesto hosted on the website for people of the State (home and abroad) to key into his vision and mission for Benue as he seeks the people’s mandate to serve and contribute to advancing the socio-economic frontiers of the State.

Secondly, the occasion was also an opportunity for the former Chief Press Secretary to the Benue State Governor to address his teeming supporters, who massively graced the event where the guber hopeful rolled out his manifesto titled: “Benue’ S WEALTH Template.” The clarity of his vision as unveiled from the manifesto convinced even “doubting Thomases” that Akase possesses what it takes and knows exactly how to proffer solutions to Benue’s emerging challenges. “… The future belongs to those who are ready to brave our current challenges and proffer solutions. The future of Benue State is not of rest but of hardwork and commitment … I do not claim to have all the ideas to drive this vision, but I have the ability to harness the best ideas and channel them for the development of our dear state,” a visionary Akase declared.

It is pertinent to acknowledge here that Akase has never hidden his passion to maximally utilize abundant opportunities in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) subsector to the benefit of the people of the State particularly the youth. For instance, Akase while speaking at the award ceremony for winners at the maiden edition of a Computer Quiz Competition organized by the Benue State chapter of Nigeria Computer Science Society in Makurdi, acknowledged the vast potentials in the ICT subsector and pledged his commitment to collaborate with experts in the sector towards opening up a digital economy and creating more jobs for the teeming youths. He also instituted sponsorship of three secondary school students who emerged winners at the quiz competition at a famous ICT firm in Makurdi, the State capital.

The public presentation of the campaign website is yet another demonstration of Akase’s passion for ICT. Worthy of note is that, he has matched his words with actions which also exemplifies his total commitment to implementing his vision and mission for Benue people when, by the grace of God, he is entrusted with mandate to govern come 2023.

Democracy is participatory, thus the Terver Akase Governorship campaign website is another golden opportunity for Benue people and friends of Benue to key into the Akase’s vision as the website provides a platform for everyone to scrutinize and offer meaningful contributions towards the fulfillment of the gubernatorial aspiration of Akase.

The full manifesto document of Akase (Benue’ S WEALTH Template) is available on the website for open access to all persons to make sense of it. This is also worth commending as people can go through the document and offer useful suggestions where necessary.

The website also provides an opportunity for people to contribute financially to the campaign organization. Prosecuting the electioneering process is capital intensive and requires sufficient funding too. Public spirited and interested individuals and groups can donate generously to this noble project via the website.

Information is crucial especially in this era of disinformation, the website therefore serves as a gateway for people to access factual and real-time information about Akase and his campaign team in general.

People who want to be part of the Akase governorship project can also take advantage of the website to join as volunteers to serve in different capacities as there is provision for such on the website.

A modern website coming from Akase who has stated his desire to introduce e-governance, this is a step in the right direction and a practical demonstration of commitment towards actualizing the dream. This will bring about more accountability and transparency in governance. This is a demonstration that Akase will operate an open door policy, where activities of the government will be open to citizens via virtual access.

While we commend Akase for such a brilliant initiative, we call on Benue people home and in the diaspora to see the website as a platform for them to be part of the Benue Peoples Project towards 2023.
