There was a loud ovation and mesmerizing jubilation in the political town of Kokori in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta Central Senatorial District, as well as spontaneous celebration across Delta State as news of former governor of the State, Chief James Onanefe Ibori’s full endorsement of governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Rt Hon Oborevwori Sheriff Francis Orohwedor, was announced by Senator Chief Ighoyota Amori, JP.
It was indeed a beautiful scene to behold as young and old people, party faithfuls and supporters of Oborevwori-Onyeme guber ticket in Ethiope East LGA and across Delta State sang praises of Chief Ibori, who obviously is the political leader of Urhobo nation and quintessential elder statesman.
Chief Ibori’s look alike black ebony daughter and PDP House of Representatives candidate in Ethiope Federal Constituency, Hon Mrs Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu and her handsome hubby, Mr Suenu joined in the celebration. It was highly funky as Urhobo traditional ballads rocked the airwaves at the Kokori Ward Six star campaign in Ethiope East LGA.
PDP Delta Central campaign coordinator and Executive Director, Finance and administration of DESOPADEC, Chief Barr John Nani, PDP CMC Assistant Deputy Director, Election Management, Chief Sunday Onoriode, Ethiope East Campaign Coordinator, Olorogun Barr Akpodiogaga Sunny Emeyese and Ethiope East State Constituency candidate, Olorogun Barr Arthur Akpowowo were seen breakdancing in celebration of the good news.
It was a highly devastating political bombshell for the opposition parties in the state. Their hope completely dashed, closed, dead and buried. Deltans shall never forget Ibori’s Kokori declaration for Oborevwori, 10th November 2022.
Chief Ibori is well known for his prominent roles in taking Delta and Urhobo nation of Delta Central Senatorial District to national limelight in politics and political relevance, coupled with the fact that he championed the resource control advocacy for increased revenue allocations to oil producing states and communities in Nigeria, especially for the Niger Delta region, known to be the goose that lay the golden egg.
Chief Amori who is unarguably the incoming Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District and second in command of Ibori Political Dynasty, IPD, put paid to speculations that the former governor may be neutral or support another candidate in the forthcoming 2023 general elections by stating unequivocally that his boss and political leader, Ibori, has fully endorsed Oborevwori to succeed incumbent governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, on May 29, 2023.
It will be recalled that after the Supreme Court judgement in Edevbie v Oborevwori, the State party leader and governor of Delta State cum PDP Vice Presidential candidate, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, CON, PDP State Party Chairman, Olorogun Barr Kingsley Esiso and the gubernatorial candidate, Rt Hon Oborevwori Sheriff Francis Orohwedor, jointly and severally called for watertight unity in the party, and appealed to all former aspirants and their political associates to collapse political structures to deliver PDP in the forthcoming general elections on a five over five basis.
Senator Amori at the Ward Six PDP campaign in Kokori on Thursday, 10th November declared: “Chief Ibori is for Oborevwori, do not be deceived.
“We are Ibori’s men and I can tell you for free that our leader does not have any plan to support another governorship candidate other than the incoming excessive local content governor of Delta State, Rt Hon Oborevwori Sheriff Francis Orohwedor, JP, the Ukodo of Okpe Kingdom.”
“Ibori will never leave PDP for another party, and one of the founding fathers of PDP. Ibori political family is now in full support of Oborevwori-Onyeme governorship ticket for victory in 2023.
“Chief Ibori brought all of us to government, including our vibrant incoming governor Oborevwori who is here with you today in Kokori,” Amori said.
Done and dusted, the election is won on a platter of Gold.
