2023: I’m Under Pressure To Vie For Nasarawa West Senatorial Slot – Barr Magaji

A federal prosecutor, in the office of the Minister of Justice/Attorney general of federation, Barrister Labaran Shehu Magaji, has said that he is under intense pressure from his people to contest for Nasarawa west senatorial seat in 2023 general election.

Magaji, while speaking during an interview with newsmen in Abuja, on Saturday, said various individuals and groups, which he said cut across Toto local government council of Nasarawa state, has been mounting pressure on him to declare his intention to contest for the senate seat.

He said such clarion calls by the people of Toto local government and required wide consultations across relevant stakeholders and APC chieftains in the area.

He said though, he has was yet to heed the call of his people, saying he was still making consultations with stakeholders across the local government and people of Nasarawa west senatorial zone.

According to him, Toto local government council has no representation at the federal level since the inception of democracy in 1999, saying Nasarawa west senatorial district has been represented by two prominent of people from Kokona, Karu and Keffi local government alone.

“And if the incumbent senator, Abdullahi Adamu, who is a father that is currently representing Nasarawa west senatorial district is not re- contesting, I am sure, in the interest of equity and fairness, Toto local government should be able to produce the next senator that will represent Nasarawa west senatorial district in 2023,” he said.

He said he will officially declare his intention as soon as he completed his consultations, even as he said he was optimistic that the next senator of Nasarawa state senatorial district.

“And my consultations need to be wide and I am doing my best to reach out to all the relevant stakeholders, which at the end of the day we come out with a positive response,” he added.
