Edo 2024: Arewa Women Group based in Edo endorses Ighodalo for governor

A women’s group under the auspice ‘Arewa Women’ based in Edo State has publicly declared their support for a frontline People’s Democratic Party, PDP, gubernatorial candidate for the September election in Edo State, Dr. Asue Ighodalo.
Global Times Nigeria reports that this political inclined can significantly boost the candidate’s campaign.
This endorsement likely stems from the candidate’s stance on issues that align with the group’s values and priorities, such as: Gender equality, Women’s empowerment, Education, Healthcare and Economic development
The recent support can also lead to Increased visibility and credibility for the candidate, Mobilization of women voters and supporters, Enhanced campaign momentum and Strengthened commitment to addressing women’s issues
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the September governorship election in Edo State, Dr Asue Ighodalo, on Tuesday received the representatives of Arewa Women Group in Edo State in Benin City.
The group which was led by their Leader, Hajia Sadiatu, and the secretary, Khadija Abubakar, declared emphatically that they are in full support of Ighodalo. Speaking at the meeting, Hajia Sadiatu said, “We are here to register our presence and to assure the candidate of the PDP, Dr Asue Ighodalo, that you are the one we are supporting. And that we will support you from beginning to the end and that you will win by the grace of God.
We like you. Our people like you and we want to tell you not to worry because we are for you.”
Responding, Ighodalo thanked them for their support and love. He assured the women group that he would work assiduously to make life livable for all residents of Edo State. “I want to thank all of you very sincerely.
Thank you for your support and your love. I promise you to work very hard to make Edo State a place that you can live in and work in and be happy in. Also, I promise you that I will not disappoint you and that I appreciate you so very much,” he said.
The leader, Hajia Sadiatu then led a short prayer session in which the women solicited God’s help for Ighodalo as he goes about prosecuting the campaign ahead of the election later in the year.
