Education: Kogi STETSCOM Charges Secondary schools To Set Up Safety, Security Response Team

As a result of massive damages and wanton destruction cause by the activities of kidnappers, bandits, arsonists and criminality that have caused breach to peace and threat to lives and property in the society in the recent times, kogi state science technical education and teaching service commission ‘STETSCOM’ has charged Principals of secondary schools to establish Safety and Security Response Team in their respective schools to curtail all forms of security snags .

The state executive chairman of Science technical education and teaching service commission ‘STETSCOM’, Hon. Paul Jibrin gave the charge during his maiden inaugural meeting held with stakeholders of secondary education in kabba/bunu -Ijumu and Yagba federal constituencies held at Saint Banabas college Kabba, headquarters of kabba/bunu local government area of Kogi state.

 

Described as federal government directive to set up the Safety and Security Response Team, Hon Paul Jibrin advocated for the involvement of Parents Teachers Association [PTA], Traditional rulers/communities heads, Youths, and schools perfects as a necessary requirements for the attainment of the set goals.

“I urge you [Principals] to immediately get back to your various schools to enforce the new order coming from the federal ministry’s of education as a new approach to hunt down criminals and unearthed bad eggs who come to schools premises to unleash mayhem on innocent students and teachers”. Jibrin quipped.

The state executive chairman of STESCOM equally tasked the secondary schools Authorities to as a matter of urgency and important to ensure the demarcation of their various schools to disallowed desperate land grabbers to invade schools land, this sad occurrences he stressed is capable of threatening the delivering of qualitative education to the state.

Hon Paul Jibrin advancing the handlers of secondary school education to imbibe a good working relationship with Parents and teachers Association to make their plans materialize,as the Association has the capacity to off set the bill of local vigilante personnel that will be engaged to provide security services to their schools.

He also disclosed that the commission has put in place E-Results for classroom examinations as operating examinations with results sheets is not only outdated but short of the model day information age asserting that kogi state cannot be left behind in the comity of States operating information and communication technologies,ICTs

Hon Paul Jibrin dwelled extensively on the need for secondary schools Principals to embark on curriculum activities, encourage students enrolment in their schools to avert imminent collapse due students shortage,staff and non staff enrollment in the state health insurance scheme,and the establishment of Alumni association in schools to enable it aid them in the provisions of social amenities.

 

The state executive of Science technical education and teaching service commission ‘STETSCOM’ boss,at the all important occasion praised the State State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo for the rare opportunity granted him to service his father land by his elevation assuring of his unalloyed readiness and wellness with the unwavering cooperation of stakeholders in the education industry to justify his mandate by bringing desirable and reasonable reform into the commission.
