COMMUNIQUE ISSUED AT THE END OF THE MEETING OF THE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL OF THE NATIONAL YOUTH COUNCIL OF NIGERIA (NYCN), NASARAWA STATE CHAPTER: TUESDAY, 28TH MAY, 2024
The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Nasarawa State chapter under Comrade Jaafar Loko held its regular meeting of the State Executive Council on Tuesday, 28th May, 2024 and resolved to work collectively.
Members expressed their confidence in the ability of the Council to advance the interest and well-being of the youths of Nasarawa State.
Members equally agreed to work together with other youth groups under the leadership of the Council for the advancement of the development of youths.
The Council commends His Excellency, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule for convening the second edition of the Nasarawa Investment Summit 2024 that brought together captains of industries, private sector players, and Chief Executives from various Federal and State parastatals to discuss how to cultivate solutions that help make the state’s agriculture, mining and industrial sectors to be more attractive for investments. It commends the focus of the MD/CEO of the Nasarawa Investment and Development Agency, Ibrahim A. Abdullahi, and his team for putting together the Summit and assembling the caliber of personalities who graced the Summit.
The Council also commended the Governor for the NG-CARES program under the leadership of the State Focal Person, Umar Dahiru Ibrahim for impacting the lives of rural dwellers by empowering them to produce for self-sustenance and the growth of the state’s economy.
The Council believes that given the above-mentioned developments in the state, the consideration of young people for leadership positions in the state has been justified and if more young persons are considered and supported in leadership positions, much more shall be achieved in the state.
To further consolidate the accomplishments recorded in the State under the Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule led administration, and to ensure the security of investments in the mining and agricultural sector, the council resolved to host a peace and security summit given the skirmishes recorded in some parts of the state among some ethnic groups, particularly in Toto, Kokona, Udege, Giza, Wamba and Doma Local Government Areas. We believe that this will also allay the fears recorded in some quarters and as well, attract more investments to the state and farmers will go to farms safeguarded.
The council further resolved to support every effort of Nasarawa State Government in the promotion of peaceful coexistence among various groups in the state, youth development initiatives and, to equally continue to partner with Government at all levels and Security agencies in the areas of intelligence gathering and sharing, conflict resolution and rehabilitation.
The Council also expressed concern about the difficult situations confronting the youth and by extension the people of the state as a result of the removal of subsidy on petrol that has now caused an astronomical increase in the cost of transportation, and the prices of every commodity in the market. It calls on the State Government to take further steps and do more to address the difficulty being experienced by rolling out more palliatives and other measures to ameliorate the sufferings of our people.
The Council again resolved to undertake a tour of the 13 Local Governments and 18 Development Areas of the state to engage with youth leaders, traditional rulers and other critical stakeholders on the promotion of peace and security in preparation to the forthcoming Security Summit.
Yours in Nation Building
