Engineer Muhammed Abubakar Bashir Gegu, is the Kogi State commissioner for solid Minerals and natural resources and a renowned philanthropist in the State has been honoured by the traditional ruler of Ahoko chiefdom,
His Royal Highness, Alhaji Ibrahim Isah Babawo, for his numerous contributions to the development of host Kogi Local Government Area and beyond.
Bashir Gegu, who is a holder of numerous traditional title within and outside Kogi Local Government was widely reported to have used his good office to provide leadership and succour to his people.
This, the traditional ruler of Ahoko chiefdom, Ohinoyi) Alhaji Ibrahim Isah Babawo, explained that the new title conferred on his son Bashir Gegu Okumagu was in recognition for his support to his chiefdom in areas of scholarship grants to students, support for women, youths and elderly people and above all representing the Kogi LG well at the Kogi State Executive Council.
Alhaji Babawo said Ohoko council of chiefs met and collectively agreed to turbaned Bashir Gegu, the Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural resources as the Okumagu of Ahoko chiefdom.
According to him, Okumagu means unifier, adding that Bashir Gegu has used his position to ensure peace and security of the area.
The Ohinoyi of Ahoko noted that Bashir Gegu deserved commendations inview of his development spirits has so far initiated in the area.
He praised Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for consolidating on gains on the immediate past Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello.
The Royal father specifically appreciated the Governor for reposing the trust and confidence on their son, Engineer Muhammed Abubakar Bashir Gegu and assured that he will do his best in pushing for the success of this administration.
On his part, the State Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural resources, Engineer Muhammed Abubakar Bashir Gegu, thanked the traditional ruler of Ahoko chiefdom for finding him worthy of the title Akumagu.
