Youth should not be a tool of Violence but rather a Constructive tool for Democracy to Thrive – Engr. Ashaka Maro Orobosa
Engr. Ashaka Orobosa who was Ably represented by the Special Assistant to the Governor on students affairs; Comr. Umukoro Uzuazomaro made this charge to youths from various states and organizations at the 6th Revive Africa Initiative Bootcamp in Abuja after receiving a Social Impact Award in Public Sector Leadership as an Outstanding Icon of Youth Development And Empowerment.
According to him: “I want to talk about a very important issue that is prevalent in our society – the misuse of youth as tools of violence. It is a sad reality that many young people are being manipulated and as instruments to spread hatred, fear, and violence. This is not only to the well-being of our youth but also poses a serious threat to the growth and development of our democracy”.
“It is crucial for us to recognize the immense potential that young people hold. They are the future leaders of our nation to facilities societal change. Instead of being instigated to engage in destructive behaviors, we should empower them to become constructive tools for democracy to thrive”.
“Youth are the agents of change, and their energy, creativity, and passion can be channeled in positive and productive ways. By encouraging young people to participate in civic engagement, community service, and advocacy for social justice, we can create a more inclusive, equitable, and democratic society”.
“When youth are involved in the political process, they bring fresh perspectives, innovative ideas, and a renewed sense of hope for the future. By empowering them to raise their voices, express their opinions, and advocate for their rights, we are not only enriching our democracy but also fostering a culture of tolerance, respect, and understanding”.
“As adults, it is our responsibility to mentor, guide, and support our youth in becoming responsible and engaged citizens. We must provide them with the tools, resources, and opportunities to make a positive impact in their communities and society at large”.
“So, let us work together to ensure that youth are not used as tools of violence but rather as constructive tools for democracy to thrive. Let us empower them to be the change-makers, the peacemakers, and the leaders of tomorrow”.
