With Nasarawa State’s local government elections underway today, critical stakeholders in Toto Local Government Area are returning home to take part in the electoral process to choose a new chairman and councilors.
Notably, Rt. Hon Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, former Speaker of Nasarawa State House of Assembly and current Chairman of the Federal Polytechnic Damaturu governing council in Yobe State, led a campaign rally in Toto LG on Thursday, touring the Umaisha, Gadabuke, and Toto districts.
While visiting Toto, the former Speaker engaged traditional rulers and stakeholders in discussions on fostering a peaceful electoral process.
At Umaisha’s Juma’at prayer, esteemed Islamic Cleric Mallam Yusuf Idris appealed for a tranquil and successful conduct of Nasarawa State’s Local Government election on Saturday.
Idris, Umaisha’s Deputy Chief Imam, called for action in his Friday sermon at Umaisha Central Mosque.
The Religious Leader made a call to action, directing political, traditional, and religious leaders to communicate with their respective communities to ensure a trouble-free local government election, and similarly, urging security agencies and other pivotal societal components to perform their duties.
The Cleric appealed to the public to prevent electoral divisions, simultaneously warning against engaging in morally reprehensible actions that could provoke God’s displeasure.
The Umaisha Friday prayer was honored with the presence of revered leaders, notably Ohimegye Opanda HRH Alh Usman Abdullahi, the area’s top traditional ruler, and Alh Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, former Speaker of Nasarawa State House of Assembly, who underscored the vital importance of peace and unity for driving societal growth.
