…..Coach Bawa describes Speaker Jatau’s gesture first of its kind in Kokona LGA’s history

Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau, Speaker of Nasarawa State House of Assembly, is sponsoring 13 football players from Kokona Local Government Area of Nasarawa State to Accra, Republic of Ghana, in an effort to encourage and discover young talent.

The Speaker made this disclosure while meeting with the players in his office on Tuesday in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital.

He urged the players to serve as exemplary representatives of Kokona LG, Nasarawa State, and Nigeria during their stay in the Republic of Ghana.

Speaker Jatau stated that the unity competition he recently hosted for the youths of Kokona’s 11 wards brought forth promising young players.

“These players were chosen following the Unity Competition that I organized for the 11 electoral wards in Kokona LGA.”

“The reasons behind my decision to organize this competition are primarily to foster unity within our Local Government.”

” Secondly, Our competition has effectively revealed the talents of youths, as demonstrated by the results before us.”

” If I did not organized the competition, we won’t be able to discover their hidden talents” the Speaker said.

The Speaker congratulated and wished them well.

” I am proud of you, go out and perform by making the state proud” he added.

The Speaker assured them of his support at all times.

“I will continue to support you when the need arises and to enable you succeed”

Speaking earlier, Coach Bawa Mohammed A Umaisha, Economic Community of West Africa States (ECOWAS) Commission’s Director of Sports, met with the Speaker to present the players before they travel to Ghana on November 16, 2024, for football competition

” I want to appreciate you for the sponsorship as I will be taking the 13 players to Ghana for final trials this coming Saturday” he said.

Coach Bawa described the Speaker’s gesture as the first of its kind in Kokona LGA’s history.
