A Response to Rita Ebiuwa’s Baseless Attacks on Chief Dan Orbih

…..Leadership Beyond Politics

By Jerome ERAMHO

Rita Ebiuwa’s scathing criticism of Chief Dan Osi Orbih lacks merit and reeks of bitterness and desperation. Her claims that Orbih’s political journey within the PDP has been driven by personal ambitions rather than the collective good of the party are baseless and unsubstantiated. It’s essential to note that Chief Dan Orbih’s appointments are not rewards for his years of alleged anti-party activities against his party, PDP.

On the other hand, under Orbih’s leadership, the PDP, as an opposition party in Edo State, achieved remarkable success, exceeding its accomplishments during its tenure as the ruling party under Governor Godwin Obaseki. During Orbih’s tenure, the PDP retained its dominance in Edo politics, comprising two senators out of three, six federal house representatives out of nine, and almost a majority of the 24 state house of assembly members. This represents a significant departure from Obaseki’s leadership, which resulted in the party’s substantial losses to the APC.

Effective leadership is not determined by position, but by the impact and results it yields. Chief Orbih’s leadership has shown a remarkable capacity to unite people across partisan lines, working towards a shared objective. The void left by his absence from the leadership of PDP in Edo State is deeply felt, with the party’s current situation akin to a ship without a skilled captain, heading towards catastrophe.

The time has come to set the record straight and acknowledge Chief Dan Orbih’s significant contributions to Edo State’s development. His leadership, vision, and commitment to excellence deserve recognition, not criticism.
