FG set to pay NYCN corps members N77,000 monthly allowance
Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed, the Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), announced that corps members will soon receive a monthly allowance of ₦77,000, doubling the previous allowance of ₦33,000, which is expected to be implemented shortly, pending necessary funding processes.
Global Times Nigeria finding revealed that the Federal Government approved this increment effective July 2024, delays in fund release have postponed its actual payment.

While commissioning a staff bus donated by Capital Express Insurance Company in Abuja, Ahmed disclosed that arrangements for the increased allowance have been concluded. He reassured corps members that their security and welfare remain a top priority, ensuring they receive all entitled benefits by 2025.
“I am committed to ensuring that the welfare and security of corps members are never compromised,” the DG emphasized.
The staff bus, donated by Capital Express Insurance, aims to alleviate transportation challenges for NYSC staff. Ahmed acknowledged that both staff and corps members have frequently expressed difficulties in commuting to and from their offices.
“This bus will significantly reduce the transportation challenges faced by our staff. It is a welcome development, and we appreciate the continuous support of Capital Express Insurance,” Ahmed said.
During the event, the Chief Executive Officer of Capital Express Insurance Company, Mr. Matthew Ogwezhi, underscored the company’s long-standing partnership with the NYSC, viewing the donation as a reflection of their commitment to backing the scheme’s endeavors.
Ogwezhi pointed out that the rising cost of fuel and transportation in Abuja had made commuting increasingly difficult for many, stating that the donation was intended to alleviate this burden.
“Our partnership with the NYSC is built on mutual support and a shared commitment to societal development. The legacy of any organization is the positive impact it makes, and we believe in giving back to the community,” Ogwezhi said.
The donation is forecasted to improve daily operations for NYSC staff, while underscoring the significance of strategic partnerships between public and private sectors in addressing pressing challenges faced by government institutions.
