Ododo pushes for stronger security agency collaboration to fight crime in Kogi
By Yahaya Idris, Lokoja
As Governor of Kogi State, Ahmed Usman Ododo has adopted a firm stance against criminal activities, advocating for enhanced collaboration among security agencies in the state to reinforce the administration’s zero-tolerance policy for crime in all parts of the state.
To this end, Ododo’s administration is enhancing the security framework of the state. This includes providing operational vehicles to security agencies to augment their capacity and operational efficiency against criminal elements.
In a statement issued by Ismaila Isah, Special Adviser on Media to the Governor, and made available to the media, Ododo disclosed this during a meeting with Local Government Chairmen, members of the state’s vigilante service, and professional hunters at the Government House in Lokoja on 10th February, 2025.
Governor Ododo stressed the need for local government chairmen, community leaders, and security operatives to work together to create a safer environment for citizens in the state.
The meeting focused on developing innovative strategies to enhance community safety, foster collaboration among security agencies, and reinforce the role of local stakeholders in combating crime within the state.

Speaking at the meeting’s conclusion, Chairman of Yagba West local government area, Tosin Olokun, who also chairs the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) in the state, noted that Governor Ododo’s decision to engage local government officials, vigilantes service members, and professional hunters is a key step in enhancing grassroots security efforts and fostering synergy in the state’s security architecture, especially in remote areas where conventional security agencies have a limited presence.
Recall that the Kogi state government had reformed the vigilante service and professional hunters, making them increasingly central to maintaining security of lives and property at the grassroots level with a welfare package that addresses operational challenges.
